I chose to stay here for two nights while visiting Kyoto because it’s a well-known hotel chain with multiple branches, so I expected a good experience. However, on the first day, I found that the room was extremely dusty—on the drink tray, coffee cups, headboard, corners, and even in the bathroom. Although there was an air purifier in the room, it didn’t help much.
I reported this to the front desk, and the staff told me that the dust came from the air conditioning. Since there were no housekeeping staff available that night, they suggested turning off the air conditioner and sleeping with the window open—which was not ideal given that the outside temperature was just 3–4°C. I requested a thorough cleaning the next morning, and the male staff member sincerely apologized and assured me it would be done.
That night, we had no choice but to keep the window open while running both the air conditioner and air purifier to help clear out the dust, which slightly improved the air quality. The next morning, I reminded the same staff member to ensure proper cleaning before we left for the day. However, when we returned late at night, nothing had changed—the dust was still there, and only the towels had been replaced, and the bed made.
I was extremely disappointed by the lack of effort from the staff. Regardless of whether it was a standard stay or an eco-cleaning service, the room should have been properly cleaned before any guest checked in. The poor air quality caused all three of us to develop sore throats and breathing issues, to the point where we had to wear masks while sleeping, as we couldn’t find alternative accommodation on short notice.
I truly hope they improve their standards, but as for me, I won’t be staying at a Keihan...
Read moreFits almost every criteria of a good hotel. The rooms are great, the location is great and the items they provide are really cool.
To explain in more detail, the rooms are 3 beds (may depend on booking) and offer a lot of space to walk and sit otherwise. The A/C and lights are controlled by a screen on the bed side of the room.
The toilet is operated by a side panel with flush buttons on the top and it has a tap in the same room. The bathroom is a shower-bath design, however they use a shower curtain which is always beyond annoying.
In terms of location, it's located really close to a 7-eleven and a multitude of restaurants. As well as being close to a train station, it makes the location of this hotel spectacular.
Now onto miscellaneous things to note:
The public hot baths of this hotel are free.
1 free ice cream per person per day at a small freezer next to the elevators floor 1
Massage chairs floor 1
Ice machine and water refill floor 1
Drink and ice cream vending machines floor 1
Coin laundry floor 1. It's really crowded and you should get there asap. 3 machines for nearly 400 rooms guarantees struggle
Lots of manga on the bookshelf for communal borrowing floor 1
Breakfast (not free) 7-10 floor 1
Amenities items for free at floor 1
All put together, it's clear that this place fits the criteria for an amazing hotel. I highly recommend staying here if you are...
Read moreVery very new and modern hotel and has a public bath (onsen) but does not allow tattooed guest to visit upon checking with the staff. However the hotel is very nice, near, clean and smell nice. At the entrance there's photo spots and props where you are free to take and use to take pictures. Check in is a breeze as usual and toiletries are free to take at the counter. Room is considering big as compared to the other hotels we stayed in Japan for basic room. It is tucked away like 5mins away from the side of the Kyoto Station, not much of a walk as you can strolled around the area as you walk to Hotel and see many small restaurants and even see residential houses which are nice. Will I stay here again next visit? I might if the price continues to stay competitive as there are others which could consider as well. One inconsistencies we found is upon check in, they allow us to put our luggage for free since it not check in time yet. However upon check out, they told us to use the coin locker so we are appalled with the differentiation in service offering. Not that I am complaining although the coin locker is very very affordable at ¥100 per deposit of any size. So it's very cheap as compared if you were to put at the station. Just highlighting the differences in different staff service offering but there were not rude at all just to say....
