A Flavorful Journey at CoCo Ichibanya - Minami Ward Hachijo Entrance
During my recent visit to CoCo Ichibanya - Minami Ward Hachijo Entrance, I had an outstanding dining experience that left me thoroughly impressed. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and funny waiter who, despite speaking basic English, made the experience delightful and easy to navigate.
One of the unique features of this restaurant is the ordering system. Each table has a QR code, allowing you to conveniently place your order through your smartphone. This modern touch enhances the dining experience by making it efficient and hassle-free. Payment is also straightforward, with the option to pay by card at the counter.
I ordered the Pork and Chicken Cutlet Curry, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, providing a satisfying culinary adventure. One notable aspect of CoCo Ichibanya is their spice level options, which go up to an intense level 20! While I didn't dare to venture that high, it's a testament to their commitment to catering to all taste preferences.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was equally fantastic. It has a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The combination of great food, a pleasant atmosphere, and exceptional service made for a memorable dining experience.
In summary, CoCo Ichibanya - Minami Ward Hachijo Entrance offers a basic yet superb dining experience. Read moreI tried Coco curry based on recommendations from a few people. Let me tell you. I was never a fan of Japanese curry in Canada. I definitely changed my mind after I had two bites of the chicken curry.
I ordered the classic chicken curry level 3 spiciness and my fiancé ordered the chicken tender curry (limited time) mild spicy. I love spicy food and have tried east Indian spicy curry (beef, chicken, goat, and lamb). They have up to level 20 for spiciness so I decided to go with level 3 to test it out. Oh boy!! It was really spicy. I was gasping for air and almost didn’t finish the plate. I highly recommend getting level 2 to start out if you like spicy food.
The classic chicken curry was really good. Although I found the chicken tenders were better. The breaded was thinner and the chicken was softer. This was probably the best Japanese curry I have ever had. It curry sauce was tasty and delicious. I loved it so much that I went 3 more times while I was in Japan (1 in Osaka and 2 in Tokyo). Coco’s in Kyoto has a special menu where they serve tendons. So if you like tendons make sure you order it in Kyoto. They don’t offer tendons in Osaka and Tokyo.
I really liked the chicken tenders curry so I ordered it the remainder of my visits to Coco in Japan. I found the food comforting for late night eats.
This location was busy. We went at night on a weekday and we had to wait 20 mins to get a table. There were 4-5 people ahead of us.
I highly recommend trying Coco curry if you like curry. It’s a chain but boy I wasn’t disappointed with the taste. So much better than the ones I had in Canada. Give it a try guys you won’t be...
Read moreMy first ever experience with CoCo, actually, even though the restaurant chain is also available outside Japan.
You can tell the staff here is highly accustomed to serving foreign customers. Despite the dinnertime rush, they managed the queue fairly and effectively. Everyone is friendly and in high spirits, especially the older uncle who was also the one in charge of the cashier for our order.
English menu is available very clearly and conveniently. Order is made online by scanning the provided QR code on your table.
Everything in the menu involves the signature Japanese curry, of course, so be it chicken katsu or veggies, just pick what you want.
You can also adjust the portion of rice. The standard is 300gr, which turned out to be a little too much for me - I still finished everything, though, because it was good, fragrant curry.
Worth noting the place is incredibly packed during meal hours, during which it can be quite intense, especially after the pippin' hot curry meal. Out of consideration for the next customers, you may also feel rushed to pay and leave right after finishing your food. If you want a more relaxed experience, consider avoiding...
