TLDR: May return but will be looking to explore other hotels in Kyoto.
Room: View: Heritage building across the street Location: Convenient - it’s in Gion itself and a 1 minute walk away from the main shopping street.
Bed: Medium Soft - average Pillow: Cotton pillow - average Amenities: Thoughtful - These complimentary amenities are found in-room: Malebranche bon bon (which I really enjoyed and eventually bought as gifts for my family) and instant udon (which I didn’t try but thought it’s great for anyone looking to try this). These (and more) are found at the reception - kimono-fabric hair tie and argon hair oil, foot patch (to soothe your tired feet) Concierge: Thoughtful - The receptionist (a middle-aged Japanese lady) kindly talked us through the best walking routes and photo spots.

(1) Check-out is strictly at 10am. If you need more time, you have to pay additional hourly fees. (2) You’ll have to pay for room cleaning (if you want it) if you stay less than 4 nights. Read moreWhat a delight it was to stay at this hotel! One of the highlights of our trip to Japan, this hotel provided a clean, comfortable place to stay with an exceptional staff that made our stay in Kyoto a dream. I cannot give enough praise to the front desk staff - their customer service was truly outstanding from the moment we walked in. From providing recommendations on things to do, to even giving us frozen lemonades to cool us off on our walking tours, the front desk consistently amazed us. The room itself was clean and spacious with a lovely covered balcony and spa-like bathroom. The reception area had a nice nespresso machine and complimentary toiletries available. I am so happy we stumbled upon this hotel. They easily deserve a five star rating. I am eagerly awaiting my next trip to Kyoto so I can...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our stay here at Rinn Gion Hanatouro! The room was very clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. The location is great, just a short walk to the station, temples, shrines and main shopping areas. Also, plenty of great restaurants and bars nearby. Finally, the staff here are outstanding! The guys at the reception desk were very helpful in advising us on the different ways we could get to Osaka. Saho (not sure if I've spelled that correctly) is amazing! She is so bright and bubbly and always smiling. She gave us lots of helpful tips about Gion and the Kyoto area. She's a legend! We could not fault this hotel at all. Next time we come to Kyoto, we will definitely stay here again. Sarah and James,...
