Stayed for 5 nights to explore Kyoto. After arriving we didn’t have the best check in experience but we let it go and gave the place the benefit of the doubt as the room was very clean and the location is good. It is walking distance to a lot of shopping and restaurants in downtown Kyoto as well as the more cultural area of Gion. Close to train stations and very easy to navigate. There are supply carts on each floor so you can help yourself to supplies and a towel laundry basket and bottle/can recycle bin.
They have magnets for service that you can stick outside the door. Most days we asked for trash to be removed as the room is very tight and the trash cans are very small. They came the first day only. The second day they came to clean and we asked that the room be cleaned the third day instead as that would be mid-trip for us. They kindly agreed and we asked them to take the trash. The next day they did not come clean nor take the trash. The following day we put the magnet for the trash to be taken and it was not. By now we have two film days of trash in our room and I had to go out and ask if it could be taken as we now had a few fruit flies in the room. I had to ask for additional trash bags and did not feel that there was any apology for the missed services two days in a row. Overall, we did not have any cleaning done the entire 5night stay.
Finally, there is laundry but it costs 600 yen per wash/dry load that takes 2 hours. Our laundry was not dry and I had to do another 30 minutes for 100 yen and it was still not dry. By this time it was late and I did not want to bother going back every 30 minutes with another 100 yen so I asked for a drying rack but they did not have one so I ended up having to hang laundry all around the room where we could find space. Not ideal and actually ended up with towels all over whatever floor space was available to lay damp laundry until the next morning.
Overall, perhaps the hotel is newer or they are still figuring out their processes. We were disappointed in the lack of resolution to our issues and had hoped for a better experience based on the higher reviews. Overall we would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to friends or family. As a family who travels frequently this hotel did not meet our...
Read morePerfect location, Gijón Shijo train stop is behind the corner, everything is walking distance. There was lots of towels in the room. And a self service trolley on each floor with amenities. Checkin was online and I’ve checked out on the tablet in the lobby. You can leave your suitcases on each floor locked. It does get a bit noisy in evening cause it’s located on the street and the walls are the usual thin so you can hear your neighbors upstairs stomping. The windows cannot be opened which is a shame. Would be nice to crack the ope and get some fresh air. Room didn’t have any strong odor. There was lots of hangers and also...
Read moreBe warned if you want to do laundry here that the drier is extremely slow. It cost 100 yen per 30 minutes to dry, we did it for 1.5 hours initially and clothes were still no where near dry. It probably would have taken at least another 1.5 hours. You also cannot seem to add all the time you want at once, as far as we could determine you can only dry for 30 minutes, and then you need to go back and add more time. We ended up just taking everything and hang drying it.
Aside from that it is a decent modern hotel which was a good price for the location right in Ginza. The room was nice and large as...
