Ohagi no Tanbaya — Local services in Kyoto

Their miso dango (JPY 170) was delicious! If my hotel was nearby I would eat one every day. The miso dango was sweet, slightly salty, and had tons of flavour. It was warm, soft, chewy.

They had two stools in front of the store in a corner so I ate mine sitting there. It was funny peacefully eating my dango, watching tons of tourists pass by.

Somethings to note: It's cash only. Their miso dango is also on the other side of the store from the line so you may not really see one on...

This is purely a takeaway shop where all their products are in display. Each item is priced and labelled in Japanese, there’s an option to mix and match with the mochi and red beans on its own or get a four pack. All cash payments and please eat near at the shop and don’t walk and eat it’s considered rude especially around Gion. Great to pick this up to bring back to your hotel to snack on, it’s beats all the seven eleven...

There's quite a selection of desserts available and more are made throughout the day.

The two ladies working at the shop are extremely friendly and always served with a smile.

Quite a popular shop with locals and tourists, I believe students receive a discount.

Got myself the roasted dango and a green tea with red beans. Both were delicious and devoured both in a few minutes.

Highly recommend if you're keen on a snack...
