Nice little hotel in a quieter area of Kyoto, ideal if you want to explore Gion and the traditional neighbourhood in the evening or at night if you want to avoid the crowds during day time. Many eateries are nearby where you can buy Japanese comfort food like fried chicken, omelette rice and yakisoba. Also conveniently located near public transport and convenient stores. Rooms have a small kitchen but no utensils so it’s hard to cook for yourself without a pot or pan... however, microwave and kettle are available which is nice. Room is also quite spacious which is a pleasant surprise for Japanese standards. The reasons why I’m not giving 5 stars are: staff could be more accurate. We arrived late in the evening so we had to use the locker box to get our room key. The hotel sent an email before and told us which locker to use but they gave us the wrong number so we had to try all boxes. We were afraid that we wouldn’t be able to go to our room and have to sleep in front of the hotel that night. Also huge disappointment about their “muslim friendly“ advertisement at the reception. Don’t get me wrong, this is not against muslims but I wish a hotel would treat all guests equally, regardless of their religion! So please consider offering special amenities for other travellers as well or don’t offer...
Read moreThe hotel was spacious considering other Japanese hotels. But the beds were rock hard. I’m not used to that but I didn’t have trouble sleeping on them at least. The staff was nice, there was even a washing machine in our hotel room. You just have to pay 100 yen to buy the detergent. I’d recommend buying 3 or 4 packs if you have a few days worth of clothes you want to wash. The detergent packs are rather small. Oh the toilet seats are heated!! Yaaasss. So that was nice too. One downside. If your more then one person to a room, you still only get one key. It’s a physical key. Not a key card. And if you lose the key you have to pay 100 dollars or 10,000 yen. Overall a good experience. Very close to the subway and buses and the...
Read moreI highly recommend this place if you are visiting Kyoto and wanted to be close to Kiyumizo-dera, Sinenzaka, Ninenzaka, Gion areas. All these places were within walking distance plus there's the train station and several bus stops around. You are also close by restaurants and the neighborhood is very quiet and safe.
Our unit has more than everything we need. We have a kitchenette with an electric stove, cooking and eating utensils and a mini fridge. The bathroom has good water pressure, hot/cold water, tub. They also provided a washing machine with detergent, hangers, hanging rack in case you need it. Bed was comfortable, ACU was quiet and cold. There's a microwave, kettle and...
