The location? Superb! 15 minutes walk along the river and you will reach Gion and the shopping heaven in Kawaramachi street! So do not worry about food!||Kiyomizu-gojo station exit 5 is just 2 minutes walk from the front door. If you have big luggage, then take the station exit 4 to use the elevator and you will reach in less than 6 minutes!||There, you can buy some snacks and food from the konbini around the corner, and there is a Subway store not far from Lawson.||If you go along this line you will reach Kiyomizudera in 25 minutes, an uphill climb that is quite relaxing.||My first impression: this house is comfy, great interior and definitely makes me feel at home!||My first stay was with my friend's family with two small kids. Taka-san is very warm towards his guests and very helpful too! ||I had the chance to stay in the room up the loft and I love that very much! I love to challenge mysef to climbing the stairs up to the loft coz it was fun! ( ^ , ^) I had the room all to myself so it was great too!||I stayed here the second time I travelled solo, so I stayed in the female dorm. The relaxing lounge on the 2nd floor gives us the space to chill out with other travellers and exchange stories.||If you are into nature, you wilI love breakfast by the window facing Kamogawa, while hearing Jazz music. Doing morning strolls/jog along the river or rent a bicycle and feel the fresh morning air would be great!||And of course, always looking forward to hear out Taka-san's travelling stories around the world! ||Will be back soon! Read moreTu Casa is an awesome hostel. It feels like you're staying at a modern Japanese persons house on the interior and it had the most comfortable open/living area of any hostel I've stayed at. Comfy, welcoming chairs, air conditioner, TV and wifi that works well is what I like in a living area and this one had all of those and a view of the river. I came from another hostel to this one because of booking issues and I am glad I did because Tu Casa was way better than the previous one.
The front door has an electronic lock and the manager is always available by phone after front desk hours end (I didn't have to call but he left his phone number on the desk). There's a kitchen on the second floor that's connected to the living room area and there are toilets and showers/baths on both floors. The bunk beds are comfy and easy/painless to get into and they have personal lights and outlets on the headboards. There are lockers for each bed and hangers for everyone to use.
The manager is really nice, speaks fantastic English. He asked why I was visiting Japan and I told him I came to improve my Japanese, so he asked if I wanted to practice Japanese with him while I was there and he even taught me some Japanese :)
While there is only one bus line that goes to the nearest bus stop, the metro station is seriously less than a minute away and you can walk just a little ways to get to a more convenient bus stop.
