KamoTomo — Restaurant in Kyoto

This bar is easy to walk past if you’re in this area and have a plan to be somewhere.

But… don’t walk past. Even if you only have time for one or two; this could be the best bar experience you have on your trip.

I had somewhere to be, but I am so glad that I stopped in.

Antonio is funny, knowledgeable and easy to talk to - we had a great conversation over a couple of beers and a whisky - solving all the world’s problems, laughing a lot, and discussing what whisky’s we wish were in our collections.

The bar was empty when I strolled in, and I made a deal with Antonio that I would stay until his next customer. Before long a young gentleman entered and joined our convo and shortly after a couple entered. With my job done I bid them sayonara.

If you are in Kyoto, do not miss this place. The owner, Antonio, is such a lovely man. My partner and I went twice; the warm atmosphere, the great conversation, Karol G playing on the speakers, and the excellent selection of whiskey, tequila and craft beers made this place one of the most memorable parts of our trip. I'm telling all my friends about it (and you should too), and we are planning our next visit.

You can spend hours here with the best company you can...

No prices listed. We confirmed the pricing beforehand but the owner changed the bill on us after we had a few drinks. Pretty expensive place to drink. We had the whiskey flight, a half glass of whiskey, and a couple beers, total came out to 17k yen ($113) for two of us after he changed the stated cost from 7k for two tastings to 7k for each of us.

There are so many places around the neighborhood, would recommend trying elsewhere before settling...
