First time trying a capsule hotel, got the Cabin which is basically a capsule bed within a tiny room with a tall locker and curtains for doors. Overall, would highly recommend the Cabin for 1 nighters.
Cons: Was a pain not having much surface area to lay out my items and having to make multiple trips to the toilet / shower areas Room could get a little warm and stuffy at times Room lighting was a little dim No fridge for leftovers/purchase of perishables
Pros: Location - be sure to walk through the front entrance of Maruzen to the elevator if it’s open as that’s a shortcut. The signs put up outside the building are useful for when it’s closed. Delicia supermarket and tourist shop opposite is worth a visit Pjs provided Toilet / shower areas were clean and well appointed with Kracie toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, make up remover, cleanser, 2 kinds of moisturiser), hair dryer, hair styler, cotton tips, cotton pads, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, razor, hair ties Bedroom and toilet slippers provided Simple utensils and beverages provided at eating area Did not visit the communal bath as it was available only...
Read moreI've lived in Japan for 7 years. I only spoke Japanese with the staff and never once resorted to English, so please don't think that this is just another grumpy tourist complaint.
Around 9pm the entire sleeping area was flooded with a smell so disgusting that I can't even describe it. Imagine dead fish, rotten eggs, and garlic, and then multiply that by 100. I guess it was coming from the kitchen.
The smell was so strong in the bathing area that I rushed to the toilet and actually vomited as soon as I walked in. The smell also flooded my capsule and the entire sleeping area until 11pm.
When I messaged the property about the problem, I was met with an indifferent response that did not even acknowledge the problem. When I tried to speak to a manager in person, no one was available.
No one even apologized to me, which is shocking for Japan. I've never had a more terrible experience at a hotel. In the end, I left early but was charged fully for two nights. I'll...
Read moreMatsumoto is one of my favorite place in Japan. I love to stay and walk around the city. Luckily I discovered Hotel M Matsumoto. I stayed in different hotels when I visited Matsumoto. The place is walking distance from the train and bus stations. At first, we had difficulty in finding the hotel but we discovered it was above the bookstore that we often visit. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and spacious. The smell of the reception area is so good and very healing. The size of the bed was bigger compare to our previous hotels. The guests were allowed to bring outside food. One thing I like in this hotel is their locker area wherein the guest can put their shoes and change to slipper. They have also separate slippers for those using the restroom. They served variety of foods everyday. I like this hotel because they have capsule room for solo traveler. Definitely I will stay again in this hotel for my...
