I am writing this as a warning to everyone not to book here and do not book thru Agoda. I have never had such a bad experience at any hotel or with Agoda until now. We have had issues with customer service, cleanliness, and it’s been a huge headache in general to get a refund. When we first arrived, we were told that we had too many people for one room and they would not let the other guests in. They had to sit in the lobby. They then told us that we needed to book immediately or else the last room will be “sold”. We asked for rates on the rooms and they were not able to provide us with one. Throughout this entire process, the front desk person was being disrespectful and cutting us off when we were talking. Even interjecting to say “can I talk now?” We asked where we could leave a review and the man at the front desk gave us attitude and didn’t want to give us a place to leave a review. Instead he told us that it was our mistake with the booking, which we agreed we made a mistake and booked for less people but that does not excuse the way he was talking to us. We left to discuss what to do next since it seemed shady that they couldn’t provide us with a rate. When we came back to ask about the room rates again, another man at the front desk said that they were sold out. And then the first man came again and said he doesn’t know what he’s talking about we have one room left. It all sounded very deceitful and we asked for a refund. At first we were told no refunds even though we had issues from the check in… then the manager came and agreed to give us partial refund (no refunds on the first night, then 50% second day, and then 100% for the third day). We were planning to move our entire group (a total of 6 rooms booked there) because we wouldn’t be able to stay all together and all of our bathrooms had mold in the corners. Finally they agreed to give us 100% refund and to talk to AGODA. When speaking with Agoda, they were taking a long time to figure it out because “their English isn’t that good”. Agoda has told me that the hotel DENIED our request for a refund even though they Verbally told us we would get one. And I asked Agoda to reach out again and speak with jpark and ree the manager. I never got a response and have reached out 3 times now to rectify the situation. I have emailed the hotel and Agoda had told me that they can do NOTHING about the situation as the hotel has denied the refund once again. I have emailed the hotel directly and will be escalating the situation. Do not book through Agoda!!! My friends booked through Expedia and they were able to get a refund. ||Summary: |-MOLD|-CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES|-AGODA NO PROTECTION|-CHECKED IN AND CHECKED RIGHT BACK OUT AND MOVED TO...

Read moreWe stayed here for a week, and overall it’s a pleasant stay.
TLDR; Amenities are their strong suit, service is just ok. Bed is extra firm, but I got good sleep out of it. Room is bigger than most Japanese hotel. A bit of learning curve regarding onsen (hot spring) etiquette, but the instruction is there for you to read. No tattoos allowed though.
Pros: Onsen at the 13th floor open past midnight. Complete toiletries are provided in the change room and bathing room, only need to change into the provided bathing attire (a shirt and pants) and bring your own towel, both provided in your room. If you’ve never been to an onsen before, definitely read up on the onsen etiquette online though, it’ll help make things less overwhelming. room cleaning is optional, but they will always give you a couple of water bottles and fresh towel daily free laundry at each changing room. The idea is you’d drop in your laundry, take a hot bath, and pick up/dry it off after you’re done with your bath (30 minutes). Dryer is also provided costing 100 yen per 30 minutes (you need to get coins ready, they don’t have change machine). This is awesome since a laundry run can cost you 700-1300 yen a go, not to mention the fact you gotta carry your dirty laundry out of the hotel. the room is spacious and clean, air con working as expected in the heat of summer free popsicle & massage chair after onsen 5 minutes from Kitahama metro, or 10 minutes from the other metro (I can’t remember the name) free shoyu ramen between 9-11pm reception will help you arrange a Yamato Kuroneko service to transfer your luggage between hotel. So you’ll just pay to the reception in cash, and leave the luggage with them instead of finding a Yamato drop off service. They also call the destination hotel to confirm your reservation to minimise mistake.
Cons: bed is extra firm onsen tax is charged upon check in. It’s not much at around 1000 yen per night, but this will take many at surprise staff speak minimal english. They seem to be a little nervous whenever we try to communicate with them. But when all else fail, they’re savvy enough to use translator app. breakfast close early, at 8.45...
