Stayed here for 5 nights in March 2025. We had the Deluxe Corner Room, Triple, Non Smoking (27sqm, 3 beds) on the 9th floor. Room was quite large.
Check in was simple and easy.
Room was clean and bathroom/bathtub and shower combo were massive. The room itself is also very large with the ability to open multiple suitcases on the ground unlike other hotels. Housekeeping came everyday to change sheets including duvet cover and bathrobes which I found great as sheets are usually only cleaned every couple days or more. There were a few dirty looking areas such as the lights and the closet door but those were minor.
Shower and tub water pressure and temperature were great. It was also very new looking and clean...no more or anything anywhere. There is also a clothesline inside.
There are toothbrush and toothpaste, hair comb and razor for free in room. The room only has a mini fridge which does not have a freezer spot unfortunately.
The TV in the room is quite outdated and should be replaced..it is small and looks like those old 32" plasma TV's. We didn't use it but it just looks bad.
There is coin laundry available on several floors as well as microwaves. It costs ¥500 to wash only (pay more to dry). This is quite a bit more than my hotel in Tokyo which has the same machines but was only charging ¥300. No need to bring detergent as the machine pumps it in automatically as part of the cost to wash.
The beds were comfortable enough and clean. The pillows were way to soft tho and didn't provide any support whatsoever.
There is unlimited bottles water available in the lobby next to the reception/elevators which was nice to have. However, it's terrible for the environment and wished they would just install water dispensers like at my hotel in Tokyo which has one on each floor.
The location is close to Kitahama station but note that you will need to transfer to get to a lot of the local tourist attractions. The station is also quite widespread so you may need to do a bit of walking to get to the right entrance or exit.
There's several convenience stores including 7-11 that is directly across the street. However, I recommend going to the grocery store at the end of the block instead. Lots of selection and better prices. Great place to get breakfast.
There is a safe in the room but it's a joke as it's one of those drawer safes and it is not bolted down so you can essentially just pick up the entire thing...
Read moreOur experience at Hotel Brighton City, Osaka, Kitahama, was disappointing and frustrating. We had booked a non-smoking room through Agoda, but when we arrived, the concierge told us we had booked a smoking room. We were advised to check our booking confirmation, which showed no option for a smoking room and clearly indicated our request for a non-smoking room.
Initially, the concierge claimed we had booked a non-smoking room. But when we questioned this, he changed his story, stating we had booked a generic room and requested a non-smoking room. This shift in explanation was confusing and left us wondering why he had misrepresented the booking.
After contacting Agoda, they confirmed we had indeed booked a non-smoking room. We then asked to see the smoking room, and the moment we exited the elevator, the strong smell of smoke hit us. The room reeked of smoke, and as we were staying for four nights, we didn’t want our belongings to absorb the odor.
We asked to be moved to a non-smoking room. Initially, the concierge told us there were no non-smoking rooms available. However, after about half an hour, he suddenly informed us that a non-smoking room was available for the first three nights. For the final night, though, we would need to pay an upgrade. I was confused, given his earlier statement that no non-smoking rooms were available.
I asked him to contact Agoda directly, which led to a confusing back-and-forth. While speaking with Expedia (the hotel’s representative), he once again claimed no non-smoking rooms were available, despite just having told me one was available—albeit at an extra cost.
After about an hour, we were finally given a non-smoking room for the full duration of our stay. This entire process felt dishonest and unnecessarily complicated. It seems this situation has occurred previously at the hotel, as we’ve seen other reviews mentioning similar issues.
My advice to future guests: If you are told there are no non-smoking rooms, don’t take it at face value. Stand your ground, as the hotel may not be upfront with you. Eventually, we received the room we had booked, but the experience was frustrating and...
Read moreWhere to begin. I'll start with the room. I originally booked their Premier Triple Room and we included the breakfast buffet with our reservation. Osaka was our second stop in Japan, our first stop in Tokyo. At our hotel in Tokyo I realized that the room I booked in Osaka might be too small for 3 adults. So I reached out to the hotel and upgraded my room from Premier to Delux Corner Room, Triple. I think if I didn't upgrade, we would have been tripping over each other. Even if you have a young child, the rooms in this hotel are exceptionally tiny.||Breakfast buffet, it is not. Our hotel in Tokyo offered a buffet with their room rate, so I went ahead and purchased it. That was a buffet, at this hotel, it was not a buffet. Sausages sitting in cold water, runny lukewarm warm scrambled eggs, average at best miso soup and the list goes on and on. We did mention to the staff we were very unimpressed with the quality and lack of variety and asked for a refund on the remaining days we purchased for the buffet. They declined and said we would get no refund.||Beds. They were rock hard. Our first hotel had firm beds, but this was beyond firm. Rock hard and their pillows were very uncomfortable and you only got one on the bed. When we requested 3 more, they said they only had one left and that they had no more in the hotel.||The hotel is located near a train station which is good. But honestly, because you are downtown, there are no restaurants open in-between 1-6. So, if you miss getting lunch, you're out of luck. But you can always eat at the 7-11 across the street. ||The hotel does not have a restaurant, it uses the space for their "buffet" in the morning. There is nothing to do near the hotel either. Is it affordable, yes it is. That's why we booked it. Next time I'll do more research.||Look around, oh, they only have rooms facing the street. This hotel uses the back of the hotel, where you would traditionally have more rooms, as storage and an escape route. Never seen this before in a hotel. Kinda eerie to be honest. Anyways,...
