Somehow I was craving for cake all of a sudden. I like cakes from Gokan as they do sell at major department stores. Nice to visit their proper shop with a quint cafe on the second floor. The smell of cakes/pastry the moment you enter the shop is divine and very tempting. If you prefer to sit upstairs, please do take a number from the machine and wait until someone escorts you up.
Not sure what this building used to be, but definitely bring back some nostalgic feels and very classic. Service is quite professional and courteous, the whole ambience makes me imagine those rich wives having high tea here :D The cafe has limited choices of cakes, I went for basic cheese cake. To be honest, when the gentleman brought my cake, presentation is quite average, but when I tried my first bite, it was so delicious and smooth, not as the ordinary as how it looks, I really enjoyed it. Pastry chef also came to explain details of the cake, which I find it a nice touch.

Though warning, if they have a line waiting and you're done with your cakes for a good moment, they may ask you to leave.
The tea, was good they kept the tea leaves in the pot. So if you enjoy tea like me, you might look at and smell the tea from the pot. To be determined if you get more hot water after finishing the pot once though. It was enough for me to have enjoyed 3 cakes. I did ask for more hot water for my tea.... definitely doesn't come out the same, much lighter then the first brew of course. But was satisfying.

Read moreA great cake shop around Kitahama Station. They have the take out on the first floor, and the restaurant on the second floor. The restaurant is bigger than I expected. They offer various type of cakes.
I ordered 3 different types of cakes: strawberry short cake, roll cake, green tea pudding. The strawberry cake was refreshing and not too sweet, the roll cake was soft and not dry at all, and the green tea pudding had a balance elements and toppings. I also ordered their matcha and ice coffee (each person has to order one drink). In total, I spent ¥3,333.
Highly recommend to relax and have tea time while eating...
