This review is for this hotel specifically, but it applies to the APA chain in general because the last APA hotel on this trip was very much the same.
The staff were inflexible and followed the rules to the letter....just for foreigners. I arrived just after 14:00 and was told check-in was 15:00, end of story. Except I watched multiple Japanese people both immediately before AND after check-in even while I waited.
I know this eas happening because I understand Japanese, which they assumed I didn't (despite me using regular, polite Japanese from the beginning) just because my facial expression was a little bit taken aback that they didn't even check if my room was ready before rejecting the possibility of checking in. (Although when they noticed me sitting in the lobby, I did see them reject a few less well-off looking Japanese speaking people, so maybe it's about status)
While I waited, they spoke poorly about foreigners to each other. I'm not sure if they couldn't see me waiting in the lobby, if they thought I did not understand their conversation, or if they didn't care. I'm pretty sure I even heard them say something about キモい (unpleasant feeling).
The room in general was ok. It's small like most reasonably priced Japanese hotels. Relatively clean. They have an opt in cleaning service which I would usually like, but they leave you all the amenities in a plastic bag at the door every single day, so the only thing they are saving is labour hours, not the impact on the environment - a very typical superficial approach to making it seem like they care about somethjng other than profit.
There are plenty of hotels around for comparable prices. So unless there's a good reason to change my mind, I won't be staying...

I had to cancel the original reservation and booked a new reservation with doubled price. I would not go for this place if I had known this before. Where can I go after I arrived on site with all the luggage to be told I had to pay twice the money, otherwise the reservation would be canceled??? I don’t know if this is the marketing gimmick of this hotel, luring foreign tourists to book, then telling them they have to pay double the money on site. The hotel should have clearly notified foreign tourists beforehand. The hotel canceled this reservation. And I rebooked the same hotel for double the price, on site.
