Stay here for the real Osaka Hospitality
Choose this place because of the price + strategic location factor as it is located very near to Namba station and basically you can find more than half of the interesting things in Osaka around this area.
Doesn't matter if you are taking a walk from here to dotonbori, shinsaibashi, or going to the nearest train station to USJ, Kaiyukan or Umeda area.
Both host Mr Tak & Suze are very helpful and informative, will assist you whenever possible to keep you well taken care off. I remember we arrived here after went thru a very bad rain in Arashiyama and both our shoes are badly wet. As the place require shoes to be taken off in the lobby so we have enquired Mr Tak (whom was stationed there that time) if we can bring this to our room and hair dryer it. He brought out their in-house mobile shoe dryer in split seconds and I am so glad that our problems are instantly solve otherwise we might need to buy a new pair of shoes here to continue our journey.
The room space is abit small (went for double room with private bathroom) but nonetheless all necessary toiletries are available and room cleaniness is tip top. I always enjoy using Japanese toilet (top notch toilet technology, you will know what I mean).
There are plenty of ready to read information available in the lobby, one key thing you may look for is a list of eateries and bar compilation by Mr Tak himself (only I realized he's the owner on my check out day) , go to any of the restaurant that's recommended by him (from ramen to okonomiyaki to izakaya), you won't disappoint.
Otherwise, you may always check with the available staff during your stay for advises from duty free shopping to location of station gates etc and they are more than ready to assist.
It has a great decorated rooftop with few sofas and low tables as well for those of you who would love to chill after a long day of walking (who doesn't walk when you travel Japan).
This information is for smoker (like me), you can smoke directly infront of the entrance of the hotel (there's a bench with ashtray ready) or at the rooftop (there's ashtray on the small table)
Don't ever smoke in room or break any of the house rules (be noisy after 11pm) , everybody came here to have fun and this house make sure that everyone's privacy is well respected and Japan is a nation of politeness and discipline.
The hotel is just less than 10 mins walk away to Namba Nankai Station where you can take rapid express to airport (one way - direct - choose the green line not the blue line (that's limited express where you need to pay extra for designated seats, usually there are plenty seats around in normal express (took it on 6.25pm on a Sunday), super convenient for your last day as you do not need to go thru the hassle of station changing carrying your luggao if you are staying in other part of Osaka.
As what Suze had taught me before I leave Osaka, the better way to say good bye is Matane (mean see you again/soon) instead of Sayonara (too formal and sounds like not going to see you again). So, Matane Osaka Namba...
Read moreWe got lost after alighting from the train station, but it was really the fault of Google maps as we must have had 3 of us with Google maps on with the walking function and we were each directed differently! Best to plot your course beforehand therefore, and save as a photo! Thankfully, Demir saw us wandering around and hailed us, turns out he’s the manager (owner?) of the house. It was spotlessly clean, all the duvets were fluffy and warm, many items felt new and in good working order eg heating / airconditioning and hot shower with no leak of pressure. The kitchenette was sufficient and equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, stove top, electric jug, and cutlery, crockery and pans. There was a toploading washing machine which we did not have to use. Friendly Demir is located in the hostel premises next door if we had needed anything else. (We should have asked him for a clothes rack as there were hangers but no where to hang.) Our accommodation is actually located upstairs a steep tho’ short flight of stairs and it was again kind Demir who hauled up our heavy luggage without even being asked! Downstairs is a quiet, simple soba restaurant that Demir offered a discount to eat in, though we didn’t take him up on that but did enjoy a pleasant and delicious meal there. There were 2 bedrooms which require you to walk through one to get to the other, but otherwise the traditional sliding doors do give some privacy. Only 1 toilet / WC and a separate shower room, but that’s pretty much normal for Japan apartment accommodation. There is a sight for sore eyes in the little, beautifully zen enclosed garden downstairs in this quaint house, which Demir proudly informed may be the last remaining inhouse garden in the vicinity. All in, we enjoyed our 4-night stay, and Demir deserves good marks for his hospitality. If there is space to attach photos,...
Read moreMy stay at this hostel as a solo female traveler was really disappointing. The place felt dirty from the start—beanbags in the common area smelled rotten, and the kitchen area was dirty. Worst of all, the shower, sinks, living area, and kitchen are all combined in one space, which made me feel uncomfortable and unhygienic.|The beds were the only positive—they were comfortable. But unfortunately, the lack of security was alarming. The lockers were too small to fit anything larger than a phone, and the rooms themselves couldn’t be locked, leaving me feeling unsafe with my luggage. Additionally, the toilets were inconveniently located far from sinks, meaning you had to go downstairs to wash your hands.|The lobby had a strong smell of cold smoke, and when it came time to check out, no one was at the reception desk, which left me feeling like the hostel was poorly managed. This is not a place I would recommend, especially for solo female travelers looking for a safe and clean...
