My husband and I stayed in Grampus Inn Osaka for 4 nights in May. We paid around 70 USD per night so from the budget perspective, this place was very affordable. The location was superb. It’s a couple blocks away from Namba-Nankai station and there is a direct train from/to Kansai airport. It is also walking distance to the regular Namba station subway line as well as the JR mamba station, so staying here is very accessible to commute to different places.||||It’s very helpful to grab Osaka guide book (free) from the airport tourist information center so that you can find your ways around.||||The hotel is also about 15 minutes walk to Dotonburi area and there are a lot of convenience stores nearby and lots of restaurants. Lots of these places open until late at night, so you definitely won’t be bored. If you like shopping, Dotonburi area is great too.||||The hotel itself is old and worn. The carpets are dirty with stains though housekeeping certainly tried their best to clean the room (our sheets were always clean and towels and sleeping ropes were replaced daily), the tiredness of the room might be unbearable for some. ||||The restroom is very small and again, old. There were some rust on the faucet and shower heads, again, housekeeping tried their best to maintain the cleanliness but the oldness of everything just can’t help it! The room had a desk, hairdryer, small TV (maybe 20 inch) and A/C. There is a small window in our our room that open to the side of the building, there was no view.. the view was just this small gaps between buildings.||||The hotel staff was always friendly, they speak and understand just enough English to assist you with your needs. We asked for extra pillows, but unfortunately, no extra pillows. ||||You do have to turn in your key by 11am daily if you want them to clean and refresh your room (just like the old style hotels), there is no electronic key here, just the old fashion regular key for your room. The elevator is tiny (for american standard), we laughed as we saw the elevator the first time… it literally fits just two people and two medium-size luggages and you have to walk straight in, not enough room to even turn around in there.||||If you’re a budget traveler like us and don’t mind the oldness and want a good location, this might be for you. IT is just like staying in a hostel but you get your own room and...
Read moreIt is a very bad experience in my trip. although the hotel is in a good location the attitude of the staff are really rude. When we first check in to the hotel it is a woman serve us. then they give us a room which is in fifth floor. we step inside the room it smell very smelly like somebody have smoke in the room for a very long time but the profile of the hotel already state out that it is a non smoking room. Also the cable of the television exposed to the ground it almost kick us down when we walk around in the room and the light of the room are very dim. There are stains on the bed sheets we get back to the reception and tell the other staff which is a man with a suit. We state out what we see and smell in the room and tell him I want to get my money back and change another hotel unfortunately he don’t accept this solution.then we ask him to change other room then he ask me why by google translates. even like “why”this easy word he still need to use translation. I can’t believe that this is the English level of a hotel staff that near the namba station. what an ugly English! Finally he help us to change the room but we have stand and wait there for almost half and hour but actually I have already see him place the key out and he start packing other things. He give me the key when I start getting annoying and ask him with a loud sound. The last night of my trip was all been disturbed because of this hotel and the staff. What are really bad travel...
Read moreThe check-in was simple enough but the room itself was terrible. The location of the hotel was ok, the location was not great but not too bad. The room was quite a disappointment, it almost ruined this part of the trip. The room was extremely musky, it had a terrible smell. The carpet was very dirty, it almost had a humid quality as the room was not aired out and the there is no ventilation in this room. The bedspread was very dirty, we found spots and stains on it and when we asked for a replacement it wasn't any better. The bathroom had mold and mildew in a lot of areas and the shower floor was extremely yellowed. It was very disgusting. We attempted to open the window to air out the room but the window itself opened into a small gap between the building next door. That gap was filled with exhaust and dust and dirt whipping around that caused more dirt to come in the room. The window panes had a caked on greasy film about an inch thick. The only positive was that the room was sooo disgusting that it kept you outside exploring all day long in order to avoid spending anymore time in the room than needed. I definitely recommend you stay elsewhere, don't let the cheap price fool you, you get less than what...
