I travel to Japan quite often, mainly to Osaka. A number of years ago I found this great hotel chain that is all over Japan. The Toyoko Inn chain offers reasonable rates, clean rooms and good service. The rooms all have the same look and feel to them. They have American toilets in their capsule bathrooms||You book online, they have various discount programs, such as an eco plan, if you stay more than 2 days, they give you discount for not cleaning your room. Sometimes if you book early online, they will give you a discount. The funny part is instead of crediting your account, they give it in coins! ||They do offer a complimentary breakfast buffet, nothing fancy, high in carbs. ||One of the small issues about the chain is they are usually not conveniently close to a train or subway station. So study when booking one of their properties. ||I found the Shinsaibashi-Nishi property is very to get to. Whether you are arriving at kansai or itami airports, catch the airport limousine bus to the OCAT/Namba bus station. When you get there follow the signs to the subway (this is the hardest part of getting there) catch the blue subway (yotsubashi line) one station to yotsubashi. Look for the no. 4 exit. Go up the steps and that will put you right in front of a new Balance shoe store. Turn right and the hotel is a block and a half away on the left side. ||The reason why I like this location is because it is close to several subway stations, it is about 5 minutes from Amemura Osaka's version of Harajuku, 10 minutes away from Shinsaibashi shotengai (covered shopping center) 15 minutes from the dotonburi. ||I have stayed at various Toyoko Inns around the city but find this one the easiest to get to and...

Read moreMy Japanese trip has been great with the accommodation at toyoko inn. Toyoko inn isn't the about spacious and luxurious rooms, but it's more about convenience and facilities. Despite the rooms being rather small, but everything is just right: You will have a decent bed, TV, shower, shampoo, air conditioning, lighting, and cloth hangers. If you need any food or snacks, convenient stores like Lawson and 7 eleven is just a few steps away.
The breakfast here is in buffet style so there is a wide selection of food to choose from. There is potato salad, noodles, multi grain rice, veggie salad, apple vinegar drink, stewed potatoes and carrots, meat patties etc. The dining area is bustling so you might need to bring your food back to the room to eat of there are too many people in the dining area. But overall the breakfast is tasty. Its not too heavy and it's healthy.
The people at the front desk are polite and helpful. Most of them will greet you with a smile and help you if you need any assistance.
The only thing that has room for improvement is the ways to contact Toyoko inn. We really wish Toyoko inn would have an email address so we can contact them when we really need assistance with room booking and such.
Overall everything is just right and satisfying. I will continue to choose Toyoko inn as my accomodation whenever I...
