Location: a little on the farside from the station. There are plenty of other similar hotels closer to susukino with better rates. Amenities: hot and cold beverages from 14 to 23, public bath on 2nd floor, ice and vending machine… everything works well and is generally clean. Room: I got a double room on the tenth floor. It was spacious enough for a short 3 night stay but tight if you are travelling with big bags. Bathroom had the sink separate and integrated in the room. Shower and tub offer good pressure and temp to enjoy a relaxing time washing the day off. The bad: when booking this place one of the selling points seemed to be the superb breakfast spread. Upon check in I wanted to add breakfast for one of the mornings and was unpleasantly presented with the news that you cant do that. They can only serve up to 400 guests for breakfast and if your reservation doesn’t include it you have to get on their “fair” system to allocate the meal vouchers left. Everyday at 6 breakfast starts and so does the run for buying your meal voucher. Yes, you have to get up at 6 to have a fair chance of buying your breakfast voucher. Ridiculous, inconvenient and not at all accomodating towards the guests. One of the days I attempted to buy one at 7 they had already sold out. Alas, last morning woke up at 6 and got my hands on the precious vouchers… And breakfast was all that was promised. Crab legs, make your own sushi bowl, ramen, rice, soups, bacon, egg, salads… the spread is extensive and comprehensive. But the experience of having to wake up at 6 to buy the chance to “enjoy” it somehow spoiled some of the joy. Overall is a good hotel, ok location, great staff, good amenities and reasonably priced. Just make sure to have the meal plan included when booking to avoid the unpleasantness of waking up at 6 to buy your meal voucher. I wouldn’t stay here again tho, I would stay at a cheaper hotel closer to the station and put the money on a nice seafood...
Read moreThis hotel offers good value for money. Their sento and sauna are definitely essential amenities in cold Sapporo. That is our main reason for choosing this place over hotels nearer Susukino station but without any sento/onsen.
Now, about the other details:
The building facade and interior are a nice sight. Common areas and hotel guest rooms are kept clean. Instructions are clear when it comes to receiving fresh towels, requesting room service, and dressing up for breakfast.
The hotel personnel is attentive, although we feel a staff in the breakfast hall is a bit rigid and some at the front desk need to level up their language and communication skills.
Our room’s layout is a little off… the sink is at the foot of the bed. That can’t be changed, of course, but what can be improved are the unstable connection (there are times movies take time to load or don’t play at all) and soft pillows combined with a very firm mattress (this is not ideal for side sleepers).
The breakfast buffet is satisfying given the variety and quality of food. I may be nitpicking but the サーモンハラス is improperly thawed, which results in unsightly salmon slices soaked in water at the bottom of the bowl.
The toiletries in sachets are cost-effective for the hotel but I think it debases the hotel’s image.
Management may consider converting the partially enclosed space for travel guides into something like a welcome room where guests don’t have to feel awkward getting their toiletries and...
Read moreFirst of all the staff here are excellent. Very welcoming and extremely helpful. I actually lost my phone during the time of my stay and they were so helpful in helping to call around and helping to report to the police, which definitely helped with the stress (I was already upset enough!). The whole saga spanned across two days with different staff on duty, but they were all on the case when I asked whether there had been any updates. It was clear that they sincerely care for the ones who stay here.Thank you so much Tanabe-san and Kimura-san!
In terms of the stay itself, we tried both the small double room and the standard twin room. The small double room is cosy but we were still able to open two full suitcases. The standard twin room was very spacious. Overall the hotel felt very new, from the style of the decor to the state of it's up-keeping. Lots of sockets around (plug socket + USB socket at each of the beds, and more around the room). Really enjoyed the communal hot bath - it has a sauna too. Great facilities.
Breakfast was stellar - you can build your own sashimi bowl with tuna, salmon, ikura and more. The hot dishes tasted great as well. Basically everything we tried were good.
Location is very decent for the price - around 5 minute walk to the Susukino bus station that leads to Lake Toya. Busy district even close to midnight. Close to lots of the soup curry shops. Around a 15-20 minute walk to Nijo Market.
Would definitely recommend to friends...
