I want to be clear that I did not get to try the food since the wait was too long for me, which I fully understand how popular this restaurant is. The staff at the reception was friendly and shared ed the waiting time with me. I have no issue with the wait since it was expected and I was simply trying my luck. But the oily and smoky smell was an issue for me and you will experience that as soon as you walk in. The smell was not bad and probably indicated how good the chicken would taste. But you'll have to wash all your clothes (and yourself) after eating there or else you will smell like a deep fryer or a barbecue grill. So for those who are traveling, check and make sure your hotel has laundry machines. Knowing how much oil your clothes have absorbed, just spraying Febrreze on them would only last for a very short term. Just plan ahead, is what I wanted to convey.
I ended up eating honetsukidori at a different restaurant that had no line which may not be the same level as this one, but I got to wear the same clothes on a train the next day without the worry of me affecting the people...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.
When we arrived, the staff informed us that there would be a 2.5-hour wait and asked us to write our names down. We waited patiently for about 2 hours and came back, only to find out that many Japanese customers, who arrived after us, were already seated. I even noticed that there were empty tables inside the restaurant. However, the staff insisted that we wait until the originally stated time. This treatment felt highly discriminatory, as it seemed foreigners were being treated unfairly compared to Japanese patrons.
While I have some knowledge of Japanese, I noticed that one of the servers, upon realizing we were foreigners, spoke to us without using polite language. This lack of professionalism and respect was disappointing.
As for the food, while it was acceptable, it was far from worth the long wait or the unpleasant experience.
I would not recommend this restaurant, especially to foreign visitors, given the discriminatory treatment and lack of professionalism displayed...
Read moreAmazing restaurant that serves chicken thighs (they called it chicken with bone). Very popular therefore better go there earlier to take a ticket. We arrived at 1730 and were told that earliest table available would be at 1830 (which is norm to wait for an hour). English menu available, lots of pictures on the menu too thus you don’t have to worry about not be able to order properly. There are 2 types of chicken : Parent chicken and young chicken — Definitely recommend young chicken to enjoy crispy skin and flavourful tender chicken. The parent chicken is the same flavoured as young chicken but is more chewy and on dry side. Although I do see people enjoy chewing on parent chicken, if you are finding juicy ones then young chicken is what you need. Flavour wise it is marinated in a garlicky-ginger-sweet sauce which really matches the good quality chicken. It was roasted perfectly in and out. We also ordered rice ball and chicken rice as sides, which are too much for 2-ppl serving cos chicken thighs are quite large already. Worth paying a visit if you like roasted...
