Kitchen Hida — Restaurant in Takayama

Wow. I didn't know if I would run into a tourist trap or not. But it gave me confidence that compared to many other restaurants in Takayama they tell you exactly the cut of meat and the degree of marbling, and don't describe it as others generally like "superior beef." What can I say.Exceptional meat to say the least, almost the knife is superfluous, the steak could really be cut with a fork because of how tender it was. Perfect cooking. Even the sides were surprisingly good, the salad is carefully made, the bread is so good and crispy. Everything perfect, including the service. The restaurant has very few tables but when I went there were as many as 3 waiters, they always glanced at the table to see if you needed anything else or to look if your water glass was empty and come promptly to refill it....

Best steaks we’ve ever had. Some say it’s expensive but this has to be because of how the beef is raised to make it this amazing. We’ve had the sirloin, the tenderloin and the chateau. Make a reservation through google and the restaurant will email or call you to confirm. Service was also phenomenal. We heard rumors about the Hida beef being the best in the world and to us it was the best we’ve ever had. It’s worth every penny. Go for the higher grade-you’ll be glad you did and you’ll have something to talk about and tell your friends after flying back home from vacay.You’ll choose your cut and they’ll bring it to you to see before it’s prepared. I wanted to try hida beef in the form of a beef steak. Someone recommended this restaurant. It was located in a sort of a side street. Nice cozy interior. Wonderful service.

I was thoroughly impressed with my first cut of the medium sirloin. Melted in my mouth. I took a bite of the tenderloin ordered by my wife. Wow. Incredible.

I believe it was not just the quality of hida beef but also the way it was cooked in this restaurant.

We were also impressed by the salad. So much so that we bought a bottle of the salad dressing they made inhouse. Unfortunately, the bottle was confiscated at Haneda Airport because I carried the 200ml bottle in my hand luggage unknowingly. Any liquid more than 100ml is not allowed to be...
