t was the peak Autumn season weekend in Japan and prices in Tokyo is at its peak. We decided to extend 1 more day our weeklong getaway and finding the most convenient and affordable place in Tokyo is a challenge. Weekends for hotels in most major cities in Japan are sky high compared to their weekday prices. Luckily, we found one room in our favourite ward of Tokyo - Ueno where both Shinkansen and Keisei Liners haver terminus - Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel at just 170 SGD++ per night its much cheaper for about 30% compared to other hotels and wait there’s more its very near Ueno station and located at a very peaceful and relaxed street. We booked a Small Double bed room which is quite small at 12 sqm but still very charming and cozy for the two of us. And because its only a overnight stay we had a very relaxed and practical stay at this hotel.||||To get here, exit via JR Ueno station and there is an alternative way to take the overpass - cross it and exit from the right then left until you enter a quiet street and cross 1 stop light away and there is the hotel to your left. It was a very quiet, laid back hotel with cute lobby with lounge chair and Japanese style low wooden table. They have an aquarium displayed on the pantry area as well. Water dispenser is located here too and they don’t provide free water on first night check-in. Check-in is standard 3 PM in Japan and we left our sports bags first since its still early in the morning. The ladies were very cordial and friendly and off we went first to walk around Ueno and Ueno Park. We also had some delicious and refreshing Hot Soba noodles for our first lunch in Japan. After spending some time around Ameyoko market, Ueno Park, shopping in Uniqlo and taking coffee at Starbucks we made it awake till 3 PM and went back to our hotel for check-in.||||Our room was already ready when we checked-in and is located at 2F. They still provide the traditional door keys which I find very classy. Upon entering, it was very clean and tidy despite the small space, we still have our own spaces and can move around easily for 2 people. Toilet is on left side across the main door and its equipped with tub/Japanese toilet and toiletries in containers/cups/toothbrush and clean towels. Water pressure is strong and heating is easy to use. Tub is quite easy to fill but its not applicable for tall people. Next is the double bed with pillows and blankets which are quite clean and comfy. They provide clean and pretty Japanese Yukatas which I used for sleeping. There is a small flat screen wall mounted TV across the bed and air-conditioning/heating on the left side. There is a small study table with compartments across the bed with a cute little chair and table lamp which can adjust the lighting. Power outlets are located by this side. And on the other end of the room near the toilet is the small mini-bar with fridge and a wall mirror. The flooring is also neatly carpeted. WIFI is fast and air-conditioning/heating are easy to use and manage. We have a small window with a view outside and a blackout curtain.||||Despite having only stayed overnight, we felt we stayed long at our room in Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel because that’s how cozy and relaxing to stay here which we will always remember. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Ueno then look no further - Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel is a very nice place to stay. Keep up the Very good work and Superb service Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel. We are looking forward to stay at your place again!!! See you soon!!!...
Read moreThe hotel was easy to find if you exit Ueno station from the 3rd Exit/Gate. There was another exit that had an elevator which was also useful if you have to lug your luggage around to the hotel. The trip to the hotel was mostly flat and there was a small plane into the lobby so it's pretty wheelchair-friendly.
The receptionists, both in the morning and evening, were very helpful. I managed to get checked in earlier than expected (around 2.30pm) and the staff allowed me to keep my belongings there before checking in and after checking out of the hotel. Each time one leaves the hotel, it was required to leave the hotel key with them which is a great thing as I didn't have to worry about misplacing my hotel key while I'm outside exploring Tokyo. There was a lift to the guest rooms so one doesn't need to worry about lugging their belongings up, especially when feeling tired after a long trip. However, the lift is small and may not fit a regular-sized wheelchair.
The size of the room was probably the most spacious amongst others with a comparable price range. Not only could I open my luggage flat, but there was even plenty of room for me to perform my prayers. The walls are thick enough for privacy although you may hear some noise occasionally if the sounds are loud enough. The bed was very comfortable and big for a single person to sleep in, and the comforters were warm.
The room was equipped with a private bathroom, toilet bidet, shower head AND your own bathtub to soak in after a long day out. They provide a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hair conditioner and body shampoo so one doesn't need to bring much of their basic toiletries while staying there.
The hotel will clean the room and leave fresh towels and sleeping yukata every single day so it was a nice feeling coming back to the hotel during my week-long stay.
There is 7E nearby where it was convenient to get any necessities or konbini food. You can keep cold drinks or food too as the room is equipped with a small...
Read more📍The location is superb! It's close to Ueno station with lift accessibility if you brought luggages / prams, the lifts will definitely be useful. It's also walking distance to Keisi Ueno Station (if you need to go to Narita Airport, the skyliner stops here).
There's 7-11 and lawson just around the neighbourhood. Also close to Ameyoko Market with lots of street food, Ueno Park, etc.
🏨We stayed in a tatami room style, which was great for us, as we have more space when the bed were folded. It was clean and bed was surprisingly comfortable! (But don't expect for nice view from your window)
🛁The bathroom also was newly renovated, clean and modern!!
🧍♂️The staffs were amazing, they were really friendly and helpful!! We asked for help if we could borrow a screwdriver to put battery for my girl's toy. They looked for the matched screwdriver (which was not easy) and helped us get through all the process with such a happy smile.
🍛There's a microwave that customer can use near the foyer / reception area. Also coin operated laundry machine which may come in handy!
❤️Overall, really enjoyed our stay....
