Smart Stay SHIZUKU Oimachi, Shinagawa — Hotel in Tokyo

A very unique hotel experience! First time trying a capsule hotel and it was surprisingly really good. It was very cheap to book a night's stay and there is everything there that you need for your stay. They give you pyjamas and towels for your capsule. There is a communal bathroom and shower on the capsule floor and an onsen on the floor above. On the reception floor, there is a lounge area where you can watch tv or read manga from a huge selection of books on the shelves. There is also a dining area next to the lounge where breakfast is served too.

The capsule was quite spacious and had all the features you would expect of a regular hotel room. There was a cupboard inside to put your valuables away in, a tv, AC/ heating and outlets to charge your devices. The bedding was very comfortable too and the room was very quiet and peaceful, making it easy to fall asleep quickly.

Definitely would recommend trying a capsule hotel stay...

The overall experience was great. The atmosphere, the service, the experience was good. The location was perfect, there is a 7-eleven right next to it and there is a street full of restaurants. The Oimachi station is next to it, so it's easy to take the train. You can easily take the Keihin-Tōhoku Line (from Oimachi) and the Yamanote line (from Shinagawa station). The only thing I can say is that compared to other capsule hotels I could do, in this one you have to exchange your key for a card to get out and exchange it again to come back in. The pro is that the frontdesk is opened 24 hours a day, but it's kinda annoying to get to the frontdesk each time you want to get out. But the overall experience...

It is a capsule hotel, it is small but well organized and really clean. I really appreciate how hard the cleaners work keeping it so clean as some people staying there seemed really messy, probably the same people who want to sleep in their capsule all day.

There is a nice place to sit in the lobby with an eating place, a lounge and even some massage chairs.

My only complaint was it was so noisy, all night, but that is what a capsule hotel is, you have to accept that. It was a cheap and clean place to stay.

When you check in, make sure to then use the machine to activate your key. Also, use the same machine...
