We had an unpleasant experience with 酒井寿弥 on 17 Apr 2023 after our one night staying in Tosei Hotel Cocone Ueno okachimachi.||When we went to the front desk to check out at 10:30am, without any greeting, 酒井寿弥 just directly say “You are late, you need to pay first” impatiently.||1. When i am preparing the late checkout fee right after he asked us to do it (which we had no problem in paying, we didn’t say a word about the late fees), my wife tried to ask 酒井寿弥 whether we can borrow a tape. We were the only group of guests at the front desk. But 酒井寿弥 insisted we must pay the fee first before he answers anything, in a very unfriendly tone. We were so lucky that we were not asking for urgent help. And my wife just got help from another staff. We will not be surprised to any news about your hotel/group is in financial crisis, as per what 酒井寿弥 had done to get paid first, regardless the guess. |2. And then, 酒井寿弥started to blame my parents’ not responding to his call about late check-out. I am so surprised that 酒井寿弥 is not professional enough to find out the customers on the phone don’t understand English or Japanese. What’s worse, he blamed the customer. We felt embarrassed when we heard his judgment. But it also embarrassed himself and your hotel/group. And when your another staff called our another room about the late check-out, she didn’t mention about the late fee. |3. Then we started to show that we were not happy by his attitude. He just kept saying its the hotel’s policy to charge late fees, which is not the thing we were upset about, but he just kept saying it. When we said we wanted to speak to 酒井寿弥’s manager/senior, he told us there was no way we can do so, even reaching the manager/senior by phone call is not possible in modern Tokyo. We were so confused with this kind of arrangement. We thought Tosei cared about the customers.||It was quite a pleasant journey in Japan till we encountered the above. It ruined our mood for the rest of the day, which was just started.||We are unlikely to recommend this hotel/group to our friends. We don’t want them to have the same bad...

Not one thing is good about this hotel. They charge 4 star hotel prices but you get MOTEL accommodations/ service.
SERVICE: Stayed for 4 nights with my wife and kids and not one time the front desk hotel staff greeted us.
ROOMS: very small. If you want to know what it feels like to be in a capsule hotel in Japan this is it. Walls are filthy and damaged with marks all over the place.
Carpet is really dirty and I had to wear slippers and if my bare foot touches the carpet I would wash it right away
The room had a weird piss / stinky smell and we had to keep the windows opened all the time although it was cold some nights.
Bathroom door has a one inch gap on the bottom of the door so if someone takes a poop the smell comes into the main room as the toilet is located right next to the bathroom door. I had to tell everyone once their poop hit the toilet bowl to flush right away.
Bathroom: smallest bathroom ever. If your fat (not fat shaming here) there is no way you can fit in the bathroom.
PRICE: paid pretty much the same as any of the other hotels we stayed at in JAPAN so the price was expensive.
Even our luggage was not sent to our rooms as the other hotels would
CHECKOUT TIME: 10 am. Every other hotel checkout time is 11 am.
SUMMARY: you’re paying HOTEL prices for MOTEL quality service / rooms.
OTHER REVIEWS: which mentioned the location being a positive. There are literally hotels everywhere which are better...

What I will say is that we had a great experience here and would absolutely stay again! The counter staff was very friendly when we checked in. When we were checking out we dealt with someone else who maybe wasn't as outgoing and smiley as the first person, but he was by no means rude or unfriendly. Some people just take care of business and that's the way it is, we certainly weren't offended by him at all. Plus we're not trying to date him, we're handing in a hotel keycard. The hotel itself is very nice, modern and clean. I'm not sure why some of the other reviewers said their rooms weren't cleaned daily because ours was. The location is excellent! Just a short walk to Okachimachi station, and like everywhere in Tokyo there are plenty of good places to eat wherever you look. The rooms are small but clearly anyone taken aback by that has never stayed in Tokyo before. There are large 5-star hotels here you can stay at if you want, but not for the same price as here! If I had any gripes, I'd say that we found it a little weird that the room temperature is set by the hotel staff and isn't adjustable. We always found the temperature to be fine, but I will admit that it's something that bothered us a little. Overall we found our stay at Tosei Hotel Cocone to be a pleasant memory of our amazing...
