We stayed in two hotels while in Tokyo last week, this was the second one we stayed in. We arrived before 12noon so the staff kindly checked us in and stored our luggage so we could still go out. Our luggage was moved to our rooms once they were available. We had a pink Loft Room Type A. The room is comfortable for two people, but maybe cosy for three people if you are travelling with full size suitcases like we were. We liked having a separate living area. The hotel is located between the Chuo train line to its south and an overhead motorway to its north. Our room was under the motorway, so we did not hear any noise from the train or the motorway. The room, however, was not soundproof. On the first night a group of ladies were in the next room, and they were making a lot of noise like any group of good friends having a girls night out in a small room. We could hear their music, laughing and screaming and after midnight I finally had to bang on our shared wall for them to stop. The second night had different occupants, probably a small family with a young child because we could hear that poor child coughing during the night. To be fair, another family member was on the 4th floor green room and said it was quiet. I do think the pink rooms are most popular as the carpet In room was very worn out, while the green room looked in better condition. The room is equipped with basic amenities: kettle, teabags (no coffee), toothbrush kit, hairdryer, liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner - and a very small fridge. There is also laundry facilities but we did not use during our stay. While we were checking in, there was another guest who asked to change rooms because his room faced the train line and it was too noisy. Unfortunately for him, the hotel was fully booked. The hotel is located a very short walk from the Suidobashi train station…and around that area are quite a few dining options. The hotel is less than 30mins from Shinjuku. The hotel is very popular, I guess the coloured floors is a fun novelty and I noticed many of the guests were locals doing short staycations as they only had small overnight bags at checkout. The hotel gave us suggestions for travel to Narita (see photo below), but we ended up taking a 15min taxi ride to the Keisei-Ueno train station where we took the fast train to the airport (you can book in advance, and the trip is 40mins). Hotel is good value and if you are a light sleeper I would recommend earbuds. Avoid a room facing...
Read moreThe hotel is quite modern and it has a nice and well thought design. However, it is next to a raised highway. The view, about 2 meter from the highway, is really sad and totally breaks the nice atmosphere of the room. On top of it, it is fairly noisy. We asked as soon as we saw the room if we could have figured a solution it but we were only offered to do a second booking ourselves (so paying 2 rooms but staying just in one). The staff was nice (also they helped us with the suitcases) and tried to help by offering some earplugs but definitely they were not enough to block the sound.
If we would have known in advance how the hotel was we definitely would have not booked the basic room but upgraded to a premium. Unless you're really sure you do not have a room on the highway side floor 5 (possibly also 4 and 6) I would extremely suggest to not book.
BTW I notice that sometimes the hotel replies saying that we could have selected the color based on our mood. Sadly we could not select the color, hence we could not select the floor since the floor is color coded.
If the hotel staff reads this, please consider adding a note to your booking websites explaining that floor 5 is next to...
Read moreLike many other reviews this is a very aesthetic hotel. Very pretty pictures but not very practical. We had a dark blue loft room the cold air did not reach the top loft so I woke up sweating both nights. The shower set up was upsetting because there wasn’t a bathtub and you couldn’t use the toilet while someone showered it was clear glass. The fan did not work for ventilation. There were stains on the couch that looked like someone had a good time when we told the front desk about it they said it was just the design of the couch (see pictures) and upon preparing for bed we found stains on the bedding. We told another front desk worker and she compensated us with three drink tickets and apologized. Unfortunately the drink tickets were not redeemable for alcohol and we couldn’t use them until after 10am so they did not get used. I wish they would have moved us to another room or changed the bedding. I would not stay here again. It was a one time trip. Pros: close to train station, easy check-in and check-out, pretty hotel Cons: Very warm in rooms, strange room layout, unusable amenities,...
