Hyatt Regency Nairobi provided the comfort and relaxation we desperately needed after a 5 day safari. Hortencia at check in was friendly and efficient, acknowledged our Globalist status and made sure we get into our upgraded junior suite quickly as she noticed how tired and dirty we were.
The junior suite is spacious with a huge living area and separate powder room. We walked into the suite and a Happy Anniversary cake and fruits were set up. What a nice touch! WiFi is fast, shower pressure is fantastic and the bed is so comfortable we slept so well our entire stay. Breakfast buffet had a beautiful spread, catering both to vegetarians and meat lovers. Thank you Anthony for cheerfully preparing our crepes and eggs each morning. Also enjoyed the Club Lounge afternoon snacks and drinks. We used the pool, sauna and steam room everyday before dinner and it was truly a nice treat.
Bellman Samuel was the best staff member we encountered. He’s always smiling, remembers our names and we have fun conversations with him while waiting for our uber to arrive. On our 2nd day he asked if we’ve had a good rest and if there’s anything he can do to make our stay better. Asante Sana (thank you) Samuel!
Hotel location is great, Ubers everywhere, we felt safe the entire time (we didn’t go out at night- enjoyed the hotel too much). There are 2 nearby malls (costs under $5 uber) and the Cathedral in Nairobi Central Business District is 10-15 mins away. Airport is 25mins away using express highway ($12-15 uber including express toll)
We highly recommend this Hyatt!

Read more**updated after returning stay, The hotel staff is still top notch. They made a concerted effort to ensure a great stay and experience. The one thing I did not mention in the previous review was the facilities here- gym, sauna, etc are PHENOMENAL. F&b still was missing a key ingredient to a meal… no syrup with the French toast this time around. But overall a great hotel and will be back.
The staff are all fantastic, from front desk to maintenance and cleaning teams. 5* for them
Food and beverage teams can certainly improve. To start off, we ate at the “EAT” restaurant for lunch on Saturday 8/02, we ordered 3 different appetizers…. That they were out of all appetizers accept 1. On a Saturday (mind you the menu is already relatively limited in size so not a ton of alternative options)
Then the following morning we ordered room service at 8:32am, food did not arrive until 9:19. They tell you should arrive between 25-30 min (reasonable timeframe)
In addition, they only offer either the buffet for $30usd or room service a la carte.
Overall the hotel is fine to stay at, with great people working there. One thing to note, the interior rooms feel a bit confining with no sunlight incase it’s at max capacity and you get dealt one of those rooms, also the window in our room was also broken…
We will choose Hyatt over 30 nights this year and unfortunately this is not one of their better properties. However we are still loyal to the brand and they typically have a good product...
Read moreI’ve stayed at Hyatts in the UK and the Netherlands, and this particular location was an outright disappointment by comparison. While it is somewhat central in Nairobi, finding the place was quite confusing. Parking was an issue - poorly marked, disorganised, and almost impossible to navigate without considerable frustration. It was also apparent that this Hyatt falls short of its supposed 5 star reputation.
The architecture and decor were uninspired and lacking the elegance I would expect from this brand. Tacky plastic plants in a city/country so renowned for its greenery was a surprise, and there is general lack of attention to detail throughout. The nearby construction site assaults guests with constant noise and unpleasant smells that seep into the property.
The food was a huge disappointment - ridiculously overpriced for what was delivered, with nothing approaching the quality or presentation expected at this level. Overall, the experience lacked any trace of luxury or refinement, and the poor attention to detail across the board makes you question how this property is even part of the Hyatt family.
The Marriott just down the road is a far superior option. Avoid this Hyatt at all costs unless you’re looking to be sorely...
