Started bad, continued bad.
This place is anything but 'Boutique', that suggests there is a certain style running throughout the hotel but the rooms are big but void of any character.
Initially they must have put us in what I can only assume was the worst room in the hotel (219) as the building a few feet away out the window blocked any view whatsoever and on top the constant cluncking and whiring from the old aircon machines directly outside meant it was very noisy. The windows did not even close properly so it was like the noise was in the room. On top of this the room was very dark because of the blocked window.
I rejected this room after 10 minutes and we were moved to room 417 which then had its own faults as the aircon didnt work. When we returned from dinner that night the room was hot so I went downstairs to let the reception know. "We'll send someone up right away to have a look" the chap said. I should have known this was a lie, 45 minutes later nothing, no one had come and the ac still wasnt doing much to cool the room. I phoned down to reception and spoke to the same person who had the audacity to say "would you like me to come and look at it again?" Why again, you haven't looked at it once? I told him not to bother as by now it was after bedtime.
So i went to shower only to find there was no hot water. OK not so much of a problem for me as I was already roastingand wanted a cold shower before bed as there no aircon, BUT my wife likes a hot shower.
So by this time I was quite upset. We paid a lot for this hotel and I only expect to get what I paid for which was aircon and hot water.
The next day someone came to look at the aircon unit but that is all that happened, they looked at, they did not fix it! So our entire stay without a fully functioning aircon unit made it a bit uncomfortable at night.
I was about to call Agoda to complain and it was only because it was late and my wife had started to sleep that I didn't.
So not the best experience at all here, I cannot recommend it and I certainly wouldn't come back. Having been around Vientiane we can see that there are so many other places to stay that could have better. Don't be fooled by the nice photo's on the booking sites, the hotel is not really like that.
Breakfast was great and the pool a nice addition, beyond that...
Read moreI wish I read the reviews before booking on Expedia. This place is unsafe, the Manager and staff aren't helpful and have no concern for safety! Long read but important info.. Upon arrival I already felt uneasy as the front staff was whispering to eachother about the misinformation on how many ppl can sleep in the room, online advertised 4 ppl but when we checked in they said only 3 ppl allowed and we had to pay in cash for an extra cot, no reciept provided. In the evening of check in my mother and sister were in the room alone when a stranger scanned a card and tried to enter the room! After this scare the front staff said it was a mistake on their end that they assigned the same room..I went to check Google reviews and lots of ppl saying this happened to them! After reading reviews, we tested our room card on the other rooms on our floor and it opened every room! We brought this concern to the Manager who says it was an error in their system and we were given the "master" key by accident. I don't believe this is true as multiple ppl say they had their rooms entered by strangers. As we felt unsafe we asked for a refund for oir last night stay given it was more than 24hrs notice...the manager agreed but asked is to contact Expedia for the refund...Expedia has advised that the Hotel now refuses to grant the refund. Also after advising the Manager that we also paid cash for a cot (Not entered in the system, that's why the staff was whispering) The Manager learned his staff pocketed the 1 million kip we paid! We received only portion of money back for cot but not for our last stay...stay away from this hotel and on top of this, room was very dirty! It's a budget hotel but don't risk your safety...
Read moreI can see the look on your face about what the title says. Yes you read it right. First night we were woken up at 2am by the scuttling across the ceiling between the floors. We were in room 218. They appeared to be frantically trying to get out, the noise was very loud. They seem to fall down the wall cavity. Then silence. ||On night four at 5.30am we woken up again by them running around the ceiling cavity. This last 15 minutes. ||They appear to be getting in by a hole which we did point out to the staff. Not just on one occasion but several. Were they concerned, definitely not. Their reaction was like they had always known. ||The aircon leaks out side and all you can hear is drip drip all night. In fact it wasn’t just ours everyone else’s did the same right outside our window. ||Can you guess we didn’t sleep very well. ||I travel extensively and have never had issues with rats in the building. ||Just be careful if you use the swimming pool. The top step leans towards the swimming pool making it dangerous to use. My husband fell as he was climbing back out as you literally slip on it. He hurt his leg. ||The room was of good size. Shower a fabulous size but the door doesn’t fit properly. ||Pool towels need to be available by the pool instead you have to use your shower one from the room. ||Location is great as is the breakfast. It was strange to see them washing up outside.||The photos on Tripadvisor are out of date as there is no gym, it’s now a bar. ||Yes the rooms are outdated and bare little resemblance to the photos on the advertising photos. ||Without the rat or A/C issues I would have...
