The King Anouvong Statue is a monument dedicated to King Anouvong, who was the last monarch of the Kingdom of Vientiane in Laos. The statue is located in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, and stands prominently in Chao Anouvong Park.

King Anouvong (1767-1829) was a notable figure in Lao history. He sought to resist the expansionist efforts of neighboring Siam (now Thailand) and tried to regain independence for his kingdom. However, his rebellion was ultimately crushed by Siamese forces in 1827, leading to Vientiane's fall.

The King Anouvong Statue was erected in 2010 to honor his memory and commemorate his bravery and determination in fighting for his kingdom's independence. The statue depicts King Anouvong on horseback, wearing traditional royal attire. It is made of bronze and stands at about 8 meters high, making it a significant landmark in Vientiane.

The statue serves as a symbol of national pride for the people of Laos and is a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. It is often included in city tours and serves as a meeting point for gatherings and events...

Some old King, revered in Laos, looking outwards to the Mekong and to Thailand, perhaps that is significant, and away from the park. Not really worth having a look to be honest. But around the statue there a lot of cute figurines, which is interesting. At night with the market this place is totally transformed, at day time, its very empty and quiet.
