No hot showers?!?
The beds are very comfortable, and the air-conditioned hotel lobby is quite inviting. None of the rooms have windows, which makes them feel a bit claustrophobic, but the lighting is nice — either soft and indirect through the bathroom’s frosted glass or bright ceiling lights. There’s also one, sometimes two, warm bedside reading lights. Since there are no windows, it’s fairly quiet at night, and the AC unit was also very quiet. However, in the mornings, there was some noise from people’s voices and their roller bags clonking along the corridor floors.
We stayed in two different double rooms during our stay, and neither had hot water in the shower. We tried in the morning, afternoon, and evening, thinking maybe the hot water supply had run out… but it was the same lukewarm experience every time. We asked staff about it multiple times — each time they said someone would come to check, but it was never fixed. After asking three times, we gave up.
There was also a strange gargling noise from the bathroom plumbing, and our door lock kept beeping after we closed the door. We had to open and close it a few times to make it stop. Several other doors had the same issue, which was especially annoying during checkout time, when people were leaving their rooms and multiple doors nearby beeped endlessly.
The WiFi speed is good in the morning and afternoon but slows down a lot in the evening, making it hard to watch YouTube. There are hot and cold drinking water dispensers in the hallway, but bottles provided in the room — bring your own bottles, or use the small glass pitcher provided to fill the tiny teacups.
Overall, our stay could have been a 4-star experience — with a proper hot shower. But after multiple days of cold showers, we’re giving it a...
Read moreI came with my mom for the Raya. I stay 3 nights with them and got a standard double room. I came by 10.30 in the morning and wishing to enter my room. They allow me to!! Thank you so much because I needed after a long trip, flew from Surabaya to Pontianak and road trip by bus to Kuching. ||The room was large and good with no window there. The sink is outside the bathroom but it looked clean and ok. The bath room is big and clean. My phone couldn't connect to the hotel's wifi, I think it because my room is to far from the router. They have stable hot water. ||During my stay, the elevator was under maintenance twice. But it was ok since the building only has two stories. The hotel used to have a restaurant but they were closed during my stay there. ||I book the hotel online. So it will be cheaper. Kuching Waterfront is 20 minutes walking distance. So yes, the hotel is in the city center! If you interested to some beer and nightlife, there are two beerhouse, 7-11 and local merchant back...
Read moreI recently stayed at Hotel 98 in Kuching for a business trip and was pleasantly surprised by how well it caters to business travelers. Check-in and check-out were fast and efficient, which I appreciated after long working days. The staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with directions or logistics. Despite being a boutique hotel, it provides excellent value and everything a business traveler needs for a smooth and productive stay.Highly recommended for solo business travelers or work trips to Kuching — practical, quiet, and...
