Most of the old buildings in Penang are very distinctive Nanyang-style buildings. They not only have strong oriental feelings, but also integrate Western customs with exquisite decoration, they seem return to the Southern Ocean in the 1930s and live a large family life of overseas Chinese.
Recommendation: 23 love lane is located in the famous scenic spot Love Lane, walking to the mural area, visiting the heritage reserve, and food street . The exterior walls and doors of this antique building are in a traditional Chinese architectural style, with two large lanterns hanging at the door. The most pleasing thing is that the exterior walls of the main building and the annex building have become pink-blue, which is particularly eye-catching. The hall is decorated like an ordinary home, with shutters, elegant antique furniture with modern furnishings and works of art, and a combination of modernity and classical. The floors of antique buildings in Nanyang are spacious and ventilated on all sides. Although the furniture is complex, it is not crowded, giving people a very pleasant and quiet atmosphere. It's particularly comfortable to sit in a lounge chair or living room in front of the door at night.
The door lock is the kind of wooden door and key left in the past, which is particularly cute. The room is not careless at all. There is a large bed, modern electronic products and ancient furniture, and the bathroom is very spacious. The most special thing is that there is still a spittoon in the room, and the bamboo curtain will be put down in the corridor of the room at night, and there is also a hazy beauty. There are also mosquito repellent stickers in the bathroom bag.
There are many flowers and plants planted around the courtyard. The hotel's service is very meticulous and satisfactory. There is a welcome drink went check in , room rate also includes afternoon tea, Chinese, Western and Indian food for breakfast, as well as bread and some biscuits. You can choose freely. Breakfast is usually eaten in the atmosphere country. The restaurant is decorated like those old tea restaurants in Hong Kong . Overall I'm really satisfied with this hotel, and the decoration is very good. If you want to experience Nanyang life, you might as well come here.

Read moreI was looking forward to staying in what looked like an upmarket property in a great location but unfortunately it did not live up to the other reviews I had read.|The fact that it was a heritage building was what attracted me, and the photos made the rooms and grounds look really beautiful. The room we stayed in was very tastefully furnished at first glance. However, on closer inspection it was clear that a lot of maintenance is needed. In the bathroom the grout on the walls was clean and white but the floor with the same tiles hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly and appeared very discoloured. The toilet seat was stained, ingrained, but looked disgusting. This should have been changed long ago. On using the shower water backed up and flooded over the lip and into the bathroom. We were told afterwards we should have opened the cover to the drain ourselves, which is not really acceptable. The room was very dark inside as it wasn’t possible to open the windows or shutters, so there was no view at all and we didn’t want to spend any time inside. The floor had footprints and some of the discoloured sockets were not working. The lock to the door was very stiff and we struggled to use the key.|Outside there were some lovely plants but the stairs had the same dead leaves for the whole 3 days we were there. Although there seemed to be plenty of staff they didn’t seem to care to sweep up.|For the price of the room breakfast was disappointing. The menu clearly said you can have juice or tea/coffee, which seemed very mean. When I pointed this out (we left the property early) we were told they were not aware of the wording and we could have had both. The breakfast cereals included some dried and pointless porridge which is inedible and pointless unless cooked. Surely they could have provided some muesli or granola. We were looking forward to the free afternoon tea but the offerings were nothing like the photos from a few years ago. Clearly there has been cost cutting.|As there are many properties in the vicinity I would not recommend this one due to the lack of general maintenance and poor value. We chose to relocate elsewhere for a more comfortable experience. I am not at all fussy, but there were too many things not up to standard which spoilt our experience, especially...
Read moreMy husband and I had an absolutely amazing stay at 23 Love Lane. Due to our travel schedule, we arrived several hours before check-in, and the hotel staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. They graciously stored our luggage while we explored the area and even prepared our room so we could check in early.||The hotel itself is housed in a beautifully restored colonial-era building, seamlessly blending British, Indian, and Chinese influences. Every detail reflects the owners’ passion for heritage, from the antique furnishings to the contemporary artwork adorning the walls. Our room was a delightful mix of mid-century modern pieces, rich wooden floors, and an incredibly comfortable, oversized bed—simply perfect.||The location is great, right in the heart of George Town, with easy access to the city's famous street art, restaurants, Chinatown, Little India, historic jetties, and the esplanade. While it’s in a bustling area, the hotel’s lush gardens provide a peaceful retreat. We loved spending time there, reading and enjoying the company of Orange and Mac, the resident cats.||Breakfast was a lovely start to each day, simple yet delicious, beginning with a continental spread followed by à la carte options. One of the most delightful surprises was the complimentary high tea at 4 PM, featuring an assortment of sweet and savory treats that we thoroughly enjoyed.||The staff at 23 Love Lane were wonderful, always welcoming, attentive, and ready to assist with anything we needed. Their warm hospitality made our stay even more special.||We are beyond thrilled with our choice to stay here and will undoubtedly book again when we return to Penang. Highly...
