The Good: Location is pretty great if you want it nearby the sea, Padang Kota/Esplanade. Choice of decent & nice eateries within walking distance. Multilevel parking space at the connecting building is available (however area is a bit dark). Room size is big since it is an old hotel. Buffet breakfast is available. Food spread is quite good, taste is okay-ish. Overall, not great but acceptable & worth for members. Wish they have proper coffee machine as it is pretty basic for 3-star & above hotel to have 1, yet this one claimed to be a 4-star, LOL. Service was good during my visit from the front desk, housekeeping & restaurant. However, not a pleasant experience with the housekeeping operator over the phone who was very stingy about bath mat & soap request.
The Bad: The biggest problem I have is with the value that I got from the Room. Paid for the Deluxe King room which is probably much bigger in size & more expensive than the standard room. However, there's literally nothing other than a big useless space that could place at least 3 super single beds comfortably. The space was EMPTY without furniture. There's only a working desk & chair at the corner of the room, without any study lamp. There is also no LIGHTING at the extra space, very poor & dark. Even at the bedside, no lamp or nightlight available. Only 1 bright white light at the door entrance & 1 old-fashioned wall light at the mirror. At least the bed is comfortable for a decent night sleep. The bathroom looks very generous in size, with bathtub, standing shower area, toilet & sink. However, the old bathtub is just for eye decor as sign of leakage is visible. The toilet bidet also continues to leak water everytime in use, flooding the bathroom floor, AND NO BATH MAT was provided. When I call to request, the operator initially said there's none, told to simply use what was already provided which are the 2 bath towels. After insisting a couple times & having to justify with the leakages, only then I was given 1 small bath mat. Another concerning issue with the hotel is safety concern with the UNEVEN FLOOR everywhere. Right outside the lift & along the corridors walkway heading to the room, suddenly the floor bulge here & there. Very improper. Yes, there's pool. But oh my, the size is abysmal. Not only that, that same small pool being divided into 3 sections for kids, mid, then extremely deep probably more than 3M down. Quite dangerous for both kids & adults with the way the pool depth increasing & its floor slanting without proper barricade or segmentation. Generally, one would think the price is still on the affordable range. But personally, I think there are better reputable, newer or well-maintained hotels in the area with quite similar pricing (or even cheaper), yet offers better service & value for money.
In all, I will not recommend or plan to return by choice unless there is no other option for 1 night stay max. Kind of regret staying for 4 nights (1st time for everything), but self-compensated with numerous Georgetown adventures on foot, spent most of the time outside the hotel in the end. Hotel badly needs renovation, if can't change to newer/fresher outlook, at least must ensure the accommodation & facilities provided are in good, safe & welcoming condition. At the moment, it is passable as an outdated budget business hotel only.
P/s: The revolving restaurant offers unique view but severely lacking in the food served, felt short taste-wise. Such a missed opportunity, does not match the environment. If they improve the menu offering, taste & freshness, I think the restaurant can attract a stable...

Read moreFirst of all, I was really in doubt about whether I should book this hotel or not. I had read so many negative reviews beforehand, but I decided to go for it when I saw what was included in the price. And I didn’t make a mistake. When writing a review, you have to take the price into consideration—what you got for what you paid. I believe some people expect the amenities, service, and experience of a $1000/day hotel, but they’re only willing to pay $50/day.||In my case, I paid 876 MYR for 4 nights. In other words, the full price was 219 MYR, or around US$50 per night, including breakfast for two and all taxes. You really need to keep this in mind before expecting to have a butler at your service 24/7.||It seems that this hotel was very luxurious when it was built or last renovated—probably in the '90s or early 2000s. At that time, features like a pool, gym, several rooms for various activities, a rotating restaurant at the top with a spectacular view, and a rooftop bar were definitely considered premium. All of these amenities are still there, but they’re not as exclusive today.||My room was huge, with a large king-size bed, a sofa, and a long desk equipped with everything needed for a short to mid-length stay. The furniture is a bit dated and could use modernizing, but it’s still fully functional. There were more than enough clean sheets, towels, pillows, and hygiene products, as well as coffee and tea bags and water bottles that were refreshed daily.||The bathroom was bright and very nice. In my case, it came with a bathtub. I prefer a shower, and I was told they are available on lower floors. However, I decided to keep my room on a higher floor because I had read reviews about noise issues. I stayed for four nights and didn’t have any problems with noise.||Breakfast was included in the price, which made the deal even better. Once I went to my first breakfast and saw the variety offered, I was really satisfied. Everything was buffet-style, except for the egg station, where you could order eggs made to your preference. If you’re expecting McDonald’s or a breakfast sandwich, you won’t find that here—but that’s not a valid reason to say the breakfast is terrible.||Other amenities like the pool, gym, rooftop bar, and rotating restaurant were also nice to have. The pool is small but rarely crowded, so it's a good place to relax, though not really ideal for swimming laps.||Overall, considering the price and everything included, this hotel was truly an amazing deal.||Now for the two downsides—and I must say, bad ones—were the Wi-Fi and the TV. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent, constantly turning on and off, and even when connected, it was slow. Watching YouTube videos was frustrating due to constant buffering and interruptions.||The TV was outdated. Some channels were available, but only in the local language, and the content looked like it was from decades ago. I wasn’t able to connect it to any external device or streaming service, so it was practically unusable.||Some people may find the central air conditioning system either good or bad, depending on their preference. I can say it worked fine and did its job, but what bothered me was that there was no remote control. Every time I wanted to turn it on or off, I had to get up and use the...
