I was hesitant at first when deciding to book this hotel due to the reviews. The management’s responses to negative feedback often included generic replies like "well noted" but it seemed there wasn’t much effort to improve. We initially planned to stay for 3 days and 2 nights, but we couldn’t even manage to stay for more than an hour before deciding to check out.
From the moment we checked in, the experience was disappointing. The entire hotel had a strong smell of damp cement and felt incredibly dusty. The front desk staff lacked basic knowledge about nearby facilities, like laundromats, and suggested we Google it ourselves. There was no lift, and despite us having heavy luggage, the staff just stood by without offering to help.
When we entered our room, things only got worse. The door couldn’t close properly, and there were cracks in several places. The window, which seemed purely decorative, provided no ventilation. The room was stuffy and uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, even though we were paying for a full 3 days, we decided to check out early due to the terrible conditions. When we requested a refund via Agoda, agoda helped to call the propertuy and the front desk staff flatly denied our request, showing no understanding or concern for the situation.
We didn’t even have time to take photos because we were too busy to find alternative accommodation. For the amount of money this hotel charges, I strongly suggest looking for other options. There are far better hotels available at the same price, if not less. This experience was beyond disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The management needs to take real action rather than just offering surface-level responses...
Read moreIt was my first time staying here.. was actually surprise that the hotel is right in the middle of the shop lots along the streets in penang. There are hits and misses. Good: The design of the room is nice and the hotel even offered bath salts and bath bombs too! The Ac Is strong enough and even you turn off all the lights, there is still light shining through the room porch.. bedsheets are clean and the bed is comfortable to sleep in too! Location of the hotel is very near to tourist places..
Bad: The soundproof of the room is bad.. In fact when I make reservation, I have specifically requested to have a quiet room and high floor.. the hotel approved my request but when I got there, I got the room which is at the ground floor.. which was very disappointing. I can hear people stomping up and down on the ceiling till late night which was very difficult to sleep in. (I’m a light sleeper, which is why I specifically requested a high floor and quiet room).. parking is very limited (street parking)
If I have a choice, don’t think I will be returning. But thanks for...
Read moreFor 350+ per night you can find better options in Penang. Firstly the street is near Chulia, so the neighbourhood will be bars and bars and parking will be close to impossible.
Secondly, the rooms have no windows and instead there is an enclosed skylight. What is baffling is that they have a LED lamp inside that doesn’t turn off at night! This creates a bright environment when you are sleeping, no functional use at all. See the picture attached, that was taken at 12am. If you like sleeping with a light on, this hotel is for you.
Thirdly the room walls are thin and the room doors slam. Be ready to be woken up at night by your neighbours letting the door slam shut after a few drinks at Chulia.
Lastly small details like the fact that they don’t offer a fan, no Aircond remote. I will say that the bed is comfortable and the toilet is spacious. But ultimately this place prioritises aesthetics over functionality and overall fumbles the hotel experience. I’ve had better stays at...
