Super homie stay in one of the best location of George Town area. Access to the most happening point of George Town downtown area (coffee, bar/restaurant, convenience and super market store, street food at back street and most famous Chinese restaurante called Tek-sen Is just 5min walking distance). Room facilities has all what adventurous travelers needs: Good bed, toiletries, bugs net for the bed, spacious room, A/c or fan, hot shower (shared bathroom) and amazingly friendly staff!! Inner decoration make your self Time trip too. Super cool! It would be perfect 5stars If WiFi was stable or bit faster (maybe there was some connection stability problem when I stayed). Having a good coffee and post-Card service attached to the entrance make this place a “meeting spot” to enjoy more Penang World heritage sights!! Drinking a good Coffee and sending a post card for your loved folk is just cool isn’t it? Thanks a lot! Cheers

This review is long overdue as I'd stayed here in late June 2022, after years of eyeing this place - so glad that I'd finally stayed. From the outside, it looks like any other pre-war building in the city, but once you step inside, it's almost like stepping into a whole different place & time. The little details from the retro, shabby chic decor to the explosion of greenery give this place such character & uniqueness. I had rooms towards the back of the building, which were quite quiet. My only minor gripe would be with the double room with ensuite as the bathroom was located upstairs, accessible by a somewhat steep ladder - not the best if you need to use the loo in the middle of the night. The owner, Kent, is a wonderful host, helpful & thoughtful. Charmingly quirky, this place may not be for everyone, but it's definitely for me.

One of the best guesthouses we've ever been to. Located close to Chulia street market means youre close to all the streetfood you might desire. The guesthouse itself is one of the heritage houses, so the place has an authentic old patina. In adition to that it is richly adorned with tropical plants - the result being a beautiful lush experience. There is a cafe in the ground level that operates in the morning hours until mid afternoon which means you can always have a breakfast or a drink just there. The host is excelent, helpful with tips for exploring Georgetown. I will miss our coversations :)

Moon Tree 47 has a unique charm, but it’s not for everyone. The café, housed in an old heritage shophouse, has a rustic and vintage feel that gives it character. The mismatched furniture and antique décor create a cozy atmosphere, making it a decent spot to sit and enjoy a drink.

That said, the place could use some upkeep. It leans more toward “old and worn” rather than “charming and nostalgic,” with noticeable dust and clutter in some areas. While this might add to the appeal for those who love a raw, untouched vibe, others might find it a bit unkempt.

The food and drinks are decent but nothing particularly outstanding. The menu is fairly simple, and while the coffee is enjoyable, it doesn’t stand out compared to other cafés in Penang. Service is friendly but can be slow, especially when the place gets busy.

Overall, Moon Tree 47 has its appeal if you like vintage, slightly chaotic spaces, but if cleanliness and well-maintained surroundings matter to you, it might not be the best choice. A solid 3.5-star experience—nice for a one-time visit, but not necessarily a place you’d keep...

So unique place. The walls and the decoration reminded me of a mix of Alice in wonderland, a boutique French hotel and imperial China with an indoor/outdoor feeling. Kent the owner is very friendly and helpful. Helped out with tickets to Thailand to a paradise island on his recommendation instead of our original plan of langkawi, also helped with all our queries and went out of his way to assist. All staff on the premises where very friendly. There’s several hang out areas such as the cafe and a library full of books. There’s a shop too where you can buy some cool postcards and art. All rooms are unique where some are small with steep stairs, others with tiny bathrooms and one with a balcony and the other not but it’s all part of the charm and made it even more unique. If you are a couple, traveling alone or even a family (had family rooms too) I highly recommend this place. In addition, comfortable beds, warm shower and good...
