Moon Tree 47 has a unique charm, but it’s not for everyone. The café, housed in an old heritage shophouse, has a rustic and vintage feel that gives it character. The mismatched furniture and antique décor create a cozy atmosphere, making it a decent spot to sit and enjoy a drink.
That said, the place could use some upkeep. It leans more toward “old and worn” rather than “charming and nostalgic,” with noticeable dust and clutter in some areas. While this might add to the appeal for those who love a raw, untouched vibe, others might find it a bit unkempt.
The food and drinks are decent but nothing particularly outstanding. The menu is fairly simple, and while the coffee is enjoyable, it doesn’t stand out compared to other cafés in Penang. Service is friendly but can be slow, especially when the place gets busy.
Overall, Moon Tree 47 has its appeal if you like vintage, slightly chaotic spaces, but if cleanliness and well-maintained surroundings matter to you, it might not be the best choice. A solid 3.5-star experience—nice for a one-time visit, but not necessarily a place you’d keep...

Kent the owner is very friendly and helpful. Helped out with tickets to Thailand to a paradise island on his recommendation instead of our original plan of langkawi, also helped with all our queries and went out of his way to assist. All staff on the premises where very friendly. There’s several hang out areas such as the cafe and a library full of books. There’s a shop too where you can buy some cool postcards and art. All rooms are unique where some are small with steep stairs, others with tiny bathrooms and one with a balcony and the other not but it’s all part of the charm and made it even more unique. If you are a couple, traveling alone or even a family (had family rooms too) I highly recommend this place. In addition, comfortable beds, warm shower and good...
