Disappointing Experience with Cocohell Resort:
Power Outages: During my stay, we experienced a total of four power outages. Each time, the electricity was out for extended periods, which was incredibly inconvenient. This not only disrupted our comfort but also affected essential services like lighting & air conditioning. Despite reporting these issues to the staff, there was no clear communication or assurance provided regarding when or if the issue would be resolved.
Rude Receptionist: Adding to the frustration was the behavior of the receptionist. When I brought up the issue of the power outages, the receptionist responded with noticeable rudeness and was dismissive of my concerns. This lack of professionalism and courtesy was disappointing and made an already difficult situation worse.
Inconvenient Location: The resort is located a considerable distance from the jetty and is situated uphill. This made transportation to and from the resort very inconvenient and tiring. The remote and steep location added unnecessary hassle to our trip.
Rude Resort Owner: The most glaring issue was the behavior of the resort owner, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I raised concerns about various issues during my stay, the owner responded dismissively and with apparent hostility. This kind of treatment was not only uncalled for but significantly impacted my overall experience.
Miscommunication with Agent: There was also considerable miscommunication with the booking agent regarding our trip details. The information provided was inaccurate, leading to confusion about our reservation and additional complications upon arrival. This lack of clarity further compounded the issues we faced...
Read moreThe hotel is located somewhere in the centre along "Long beach". The jetty is towards the far right and we have to walk half the distance of the beach and then walk uphill to get to the rooms. From the jetty it takes around 15 minutes and the walk uphill is quite tiring if you're carrying a lot of bags.We stayed in the deluxe chalets, which was actually quite nice. They provided towels and a small bottle of shampoo and soap. There was also a mini fridge in each room. "BATHROOM HEATER"----The bathrooms were quite clean.HOWEVER, they did not switch on the heater in the bathroom until we actually went and asked them. "POWER CUTS!!"----Another thing that kept happening was a cut in the electric supply for all the chalets. Which conveniently happened at 9 am and 2 pm everyday while we were there. They would say there was a power cut and that would force us to be out of the room, as there would be no air conditioning. This was really annoying as the beach was scorching hot at 1 in the afternoon, and a we wanted to do was to just sit and relax in a cold room, but, the power went off both days. It took nearly 2-3 hours for the power to come back. They provided us a decent buffet breakfast. There were toasts, fried rice, noodles, baked beans, sausages, eggs, coffee, tea and some juices. "EARLY CHECKOUT, PRICY EXTENSION"------Checkout time is at 10.30 am, which was quite early. The last day we were there, we requested to extend the room for a few hours, however the hotel's policy is that if you wish to extend, you have to extend for the price of a half-day stay, which is till 4pm and cost us an...
Read moreSince it’s Perhentian, we didn’t have very high expectations. The rooms were relatively okay, and the towels and bedsheets were clean. The reception staff also kindly allowed us to check in earlier, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, several frustrating issues overshadowed the positives:
The bathroom was not very clean — the shower area and toilet had yellow stains.
Housekeeping service was nonexistent: no cleaning was done during our stay, no complimentary water bottles were provided, and not even a kettle was available to boil water.
On one of the nights, heavy rain caused the ceiling to leak. We had to use a trash bin with a plastic bag to collect the water. The next day we asked reception for any container to help, and while staff acknowledged the problem, no action was taken.
The hotel does not offer any transfer service from the jetty or assistance with luggage. We had to carry everything ourselves under the hot sun, walking through the sand — while we saw other budget-friendly hotels offering this basic service.
The location is not very convenient, as you need to climb up a slope to reach the hotel. If you’re looking for easy access, this is not the place.
The hotel attracts a lot of families, and unfortunately management does not control noise after 9 pm or before 9 am. It can get quite noisy and disturbing.
Overall, I would not recommend staying here. While the price is relatively budget-friendly compared to other hotels, it does not provide good...
