DO NOT STAY HERE. The owner of this hostel is an absolute crook. He has two properties, this one and one nearby called 100 backpackers, which we stayed at. He hasn't listed the 100 backpackers property on Google or tripadvisor, so I have to review this property. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights, but didn't make it through night 1. To start with, the bed was filthy and smelly, and the owner told us the brown stains on the sheets were from Muslim women ironing their clothes on the bed? Sure. He was very defensive and patronising about this, but we let it slide. The bathroom smells. The shower and tap are terrible, cold and barely any water pressure. There is hardly any natural light. There is nobody on site to speak to. There were lots of dead flies on the floor downstairs. By 12am we had adult and baby cockroaches running around our room. I killed all of them, which was a horrible experience. I complained to him, we asked for a refund and he agreed, and said to contact our travel agent (booking.com). After this, he marked our stay as a "no show", despite us having irrefutable proof of being in the hostel. He obviously did this so we could not leave a review on the site. Now he is calling us a liar and blaming us for letting cockroaches in through the window (we never leave windows open for this reason!). He is still refusing to refund us. In 3 months of travelling SE asia, this has been by far the worst experience we have had. Please, spare yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else, this guy is completely untrustworthy and does not...
Read moreMyself and my boyfriend stayed here for 2 nights in October. |The hostel was very clean, and the host very friendly and helpful. The communal rooms are well presented and a nice space. The fact there is a washing machine is helpful. The negatives we have are similar to other reviews. The bathroom/ shower layout is a strange one with the toilet and shower in the same room, for communal use seems strange not to have it separate. Having to take your own loo roll into the toilet each time was a bit annoying. We had a small double room - we knew from pictures it would be small but weren’t aware that it would have no window to the outside, and be directly open to the communal kitchen. |The room itself felt quite chlosterophobic , I’m not sure if I was travelling alone I would find the space comfortable. Due to the window being open onto the communal kitchen, the curtain did not block out the light at night - could definitely do with a black out blind! Had we known the bedroom had no window, we probably would not have booked it and I think this should be made known on booking.com and reflected in the price. |Whilst we were there we did see into one of the larger double rooms with an en suite - which looked lovely. |Overall I think this hostel is good, and definitely good value for money, I think we just got unlucky that that was the last room available over a...
Read moreHostel is really nice! Super clean, good communal areas and very social! The beds are bang average for comfort but for the time you’re in them it’s no big deal! Only downfall is maybe the 2 showers/ toilets to share with 12 people!||One staff member was really rude and patronising at times, we’d hardly finished our food and he’d tell us we were messy (baring in mind we were seconds away from cleaning our things, we’d hardly put our forks down) - and kept telling us we were messy in the communal areas and left the place messy however we were still sat in it, still chatting and he’d come and interrupt us to tell us we were messy? It’s not a big deal but it wasn’t necessary as we aren’t messy and we left everything how we found it. We also overhead an encounter he had with another couple on the hostel where voices were raised and he was rude. I believe he may actually own the place but I’m not 100% sure.||However don’t let him ruin your experience, everyone else was so lovely and the...
