Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort — Hotel in Baja California Sur

From the moment we arrived at Rosewood Los Cabos greeted with the most unique delicious frothy margarita while being serenaded by a mariachi band, it was clear we were in for something exceptional. This isn’t just a hotel; it’s an experience that goes above and beyond anything I could have imagined. The attention to detail here is unparalleled, with every single staff member going out of their way to make us feel like VIPs, always anticipating our needs even before we knew what we wanted.

Our room was a slice of paradise, impeccably designed with a seamless blend of luxury and comfort. From the personalized welcome gifts to the nightly turn-down surprises, the touches of thoughtful hospitality were constant. Each detail was designed with intention—from the finest linens and handpicked décor to the panoramic views that made us never want to leave our room. Even the scent of the room, specially curated (you get to choose the daily "aromatherapy"), was pure bliss!

Dining here was another level of amazing. Every meal was not just a culinary delight but an experience in itself, with dishes that beautifully reflected the spirit of Cabo. The chefs are true artists, each course being a masterpiece of flavors and presentation. Each night, we enjoyed surprise treats from the chef!!! It made me feel SO special!!

Beyond the stunning property itself, the attention to detail really set this hotel apart. I will never forget the moment that we walked up to the pool and had staff running to get our chairs ready (towels laid out, chairs set at the right height, fresh water on ice, and complimentary sunscreen delivered to your chair)... not to mention the frequent check ins to make sure your needs were met (e.g., moving our umbrella q30 min so that we were never in the sun... a must for my pale and sun-fearing husband).

Every morning, we were given a choice: we could either dine in the restaurant with sweeping ocean views or enjoy breakfast in the privacy of our room, beautifully set up by our butler. This daily decision quickly became a delightful ritual, as each option was just as exceptional as the other. On mornings we chose to stay in, our breakfast was brought to us with impeccable timing and presentation. The staff set everything up with such grace, even down to arranging the cutlery, ensuring our coffee stayed piping hot, and even adding an adorable cactus to brighten up our table. It was the ultimate “breakfast in bed” fantasy come to life, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and ENDLESS choices, from tropical fruit platters to decadent pastries to savory mexican-inspired meals.

On the days we ventured to the restaurant, we were equally blown away. The Mexican-style breakfast was a revelation: vibrant chilaquiles, fluffy handmade tortillas, smoky salsas, and hearty huevos rancheros that were so rich and satisfying, we savored every bite. We almost felt like royalty as we indulged, and the setting added an extra layer of luxury. The restaurant’s ambiance, with warm sunlight streaming through and a serene view of the coastline, felt both sophisticated and intimate.

Each breakfast was a feast for the senses, and the staff made us feel like cherished guests at every turn. They remembered our coffee preferences, offered special “surprise” juices each day, and even gave us a history of the ingredients when we asked. The attention to detail was astonishing. Every single morning was a delicious, relaxing, and memorable experience that perfectly set the tone for the day.

Rosewood Los Cabos has truly redefined the meaning of luxury. The combination of genuine warmth, unparalleled attention to detail, and beautifully curated experiences made this stay unforgettable. We felt cared for, appreciated, and spoiled in the best way possible.

My wife and I have traveled to Las Ventanas four (4) times. Our first three (3) visits were amazing and our last visit on 9-26-18 to 9-30-18 was less than good.

Las Ventanas has really nice people, beautiful and maintained grounds and is very expensive at about $2,500 daily which includes tips, food, room and taxes, and we've gladly found value in that price until this last visit. Paying around $10,000 for 4 nights was something we did three (3) previous times because the service was way way beyond expectations, the food was spectacular, and the rooms were amazing. Well fast forward to this past trip. The room is still amazing; however, the service and food have declined significantly. I do not think this is the proper forum for detailed issues but there were many. One main issue was my wife's birthday celebration was ruined due to rain damage in their wine cellar which is totally out of Las Ventanas control, however, when they realized they could not accommodate the plans I made many months before for this special dinner and special occasion you would think they'd have alternative plans and they did not. Simply booking another restaurant or something would have been better than nothing. Celebration ruined!

This recent trip was terrible, and my wife and I did not enjoy ourselves and certainly didn’t get $10,000 worth of value. We wasted valuable time! Several of the issues were brought to staff’s attention on-site, however, nothing was done. I received a survey and answered it honestly, and we were so disappointed that the Hotel Manager called me on 10-3-18 and offered apologies, and a gift certificate for two (2) free nights the next time we go to Las Ventanas. I turned his offer down for the simple reason as to me time is more valuable than money and we cannot take the chance with limited vacation time that our experience next time will not be similar to that of this past trip. We are not going back! Although the gift certificates may seem like a good solution the risk is just too great for another spoiled vacation. You see, spending $10,000 for 4 nights isn't the issue its being able to relax, being able to enjoy time away as when you run multiple businesses you can't afford to take a chance that your choice of a vacation spot doesn't deliver. We were so saddened to realize we'd never go back to Las Ventanas again as that was "our place". We grew to expect excellent service that was beyond other venues, we accepted the fact that Las Ventanas was expensive because it was "our place" and the place for unparalleled, unexpected service. Well those days are over, and we are hunting for a new Las Ventanas somewhere so please write.

To top it all off I got sick on the morning we were leaving and that has never happened to me before on the three (3) prior trips. It took 4 days and antibiotics to get over the GI issues.

This was a difficult review to write as the Las Ventanas people are kind, nice and always smiling. I just cannot return there or recommend Las Ventanas to anyone else. Throwing out $10,000 and more importantly the time is something I cannot do. In this day and age of social media and the internet for reviews I’d recommend searching other Cabo spots to make an educated decision. Before talking about the bad I’ll say that the staff at Arbol we’re great. The food was tasty and all service member teams made sure we had a good time. That’s the last nice thing I’m going to say about this horrible place. My pregnant wife and I decided to celebrate my birthday because we believed the reviews that Rosewood Las Ventanas was a great destination. First the room sizes were falsely advertised, our 1200 square foot room was closer to 600. What was extremely inconvenient was the fact we had a second floor room but there were no elevators so my very pregnant wife had to climb the stairs and I was stuck climbing the stairs toddler in one arm baby stroller in the other. On my birthday I received a chocolate cupcake which was Disappointing considering we were spending $1500 usd a night in Mexico. We had a large problem that during the COVID 19 pandemic if the resort was at 40% capacity how is it the hotel put a noisy couple next door to us, you’ve obviously miss understood the social distancing Guidelines. What’s worse is the couple decided to chain smoke which was Effecting our stay to the point my infant began coughing in addition my pregnant wife. When we asked the butler they rudely told us any guest can do what they wanted and we could move if we didn’t like it. The bad service became worse when the room they showed us we could move into was a downgrade from where we were staying. It was a lower tier and the inside was not styled. It looked like an unsold timeshare. So you expect me after paying thousands of dollars in my birthday to drag my pregnant wide and baby because you wouldn’t accommodate us. You people are obviously not in hospitality. When we asked the manager if any other Villa was available he lied and told us no there was nothing else he could do and that was our only option. All of this made me late for my birthday dinner at arbol. After we sat because we aren’t stupid we went on the website to find many villas were available. After being inconvenienced being lied to by management really upset us because at a rosewood hotel we expect high levels of service. Not to be lied to by management who obviously felt going home early was better than doing their job. After dinner we decided to check out because spending more money when obviously they felt my money was inferior because I’m a person of color was not going to happen. I say that because when asking for a final bill the night manager finally presented herself after two hours of demanding we see her. On the bill she attempted to charge us for included items and said we were trying to take advantage of them somehow. What a disgusting individual who was such a coward I demanded her name or business card to make a formal complaint. Spending thousands of dollars a night I never expect management to be so rude but to refuse to give me her name and information really made me think this place needs new management. If Mr Frederic Vidal is still In charge of this property you need to contact me and deal with your underlings. I’m disgusted I was forced to leave on my birthday after receiving such terrible treatment not just to myself but my pregnant wife and 9 month old child.
