Affordable Heritage at a Great Location
While this place might not be the fanciest place to stay - or boutique - it is one of the best Value-for-money options in town, with a lot of character and great location. Your basic needs would get taken care of and we didnt have any big complaints during our stay. And for the price we paid this is a steal! They also have a nice terrace from which you can get an unobstructed view of the Cathedral, Plaza and the Pastel coloured homes on the hilltop
LOCATION: Fantastic location right next to the cathedrals and in the heart of old town!
DINE + DRINK: They dont have a restaurant on site, but do provide a free breakfast at a posher restaurant a block away which is pretty decent.
ROOM: We stayed in Room 9, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Sweet view of the UNIVERSITY from one of the windows; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: Very poor Air conditioner that couldnt Cool the room well enough and made it difficult to sleep under warmer than desired conditions!!; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Random cosmetics, bring your own!
FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool, just pure Mexican Chill!
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel at home, and well taken care of.
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free medium speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment - But ONLY IN SPANISH mostly!! So not much to watch if you dont...
Read moreThe hotel is perfectly located in the city center. Everything is in walking distance. We had a spacious room with an amazing view over the city. The breakfast, which is served in the neighbouring hotel (around 300 m walk) is generous for a Mexican breakfast. The staff is super freindly
Due to the central location the hotel is super loud. Guanajuato is a student city and the students like to party. There are a lot of bars close by which play music super loud. In front of the hotel is a busy street and the buses are loud. We asked during our booking already for a quite room but got a loud one. From the perspective from the hotel the room was probably nice because it has the best view over the city (room 15) but the noise is crazy. It would be good if the hotel would invest in sound proof windows.
The bathroom had a bad smell from the plumbing which they tried to hide with air freshener which sprays all 15 Minutes automatically directly over the basin. So if you brush your teeth it sprays on you.
Unfortunately we also got bitten by bed bugs. We found two of them and an gave them the the reception team. The room was thoroughly cleaned after this and at the end of the week the problem was solved.
It really is a pity that the city is so extrem noisy in the evening and on the weekend also at night. This is a problem all the hotels in the city center face, unless they have extrem...
Read morePros: Right in the zona centro. Room was clean. The church Bells ring early in the AM so if you are trying to sleep in after a long night you will be woken. The weekend nights are busy and loud music. The main down fall is that they don’t have parking. Parking down town zona centro is crazy. We go lost just trying to find the hotel. There are tunnels so signal on gps get cutting off. Kept calling the hotel for guidance no answer only via text. They provided us 3 parking garage information but was unable to locate. Also traffic is non stop and roads are very narrow so no where to pull over and find location. As we drove we stubbled across a young man that asked if we needed parking. Not going to lie we were very suspicious and did not know if to trust or not but at this point we were done driving around with no direction. We followed him as he escorted us in his motorcycle. We arrived to a small hotel called Hotel En Un Lugar De La Mancha. They have a very small parking lot and they charge you 300 pesos to leave your car overnight. They drove us to our hotel and luggage. They helped us take out luggage to the door step of our hotel. If it was not for them we would have not been able to enjoy our stay in zona centro Guanajuato. I’d you ever need to reach them they can be reached at the hotel number you find in...
