Great restaurant! Went there with my wife and son for dinner We all got the degustation menu which is 750MXP, add 750 MXP for wine matching, which I took. Full disclosure it's a 7 course meal. I ll go into the details hereafter, but overall this was a really great experience, everything is well balanced, it s not fancy for being fancy, but for a real purpose: the taste and the experience. I could stop here, but I am taking the time to write a detailed review because I felt like the chef and crew really made a great job, so just trying to match the effort. It may sound like critics sometimes, but it comes with a 5 stars, just trying to be constructive. First course includes stacked toasted tuna, crispy onions over a torta, fancy blue mayonnaise stired fried parsley on top, a spicy sauce below the torta, plus mango and red berries sauces. The balance is great, all the tastes are there. The fruit sauces add a huge value to the overall balance in my opinion. As a French guy, I could have gone without the spicy sauce BUT it does not brake the overall balance, so, being honest, it's perfect. Comes with a red wine, surprising with the tuna, but it is very light and fruity, so that s a very relevant choice after all, at least for me and my wife Second is a veloute (creamy soup) with crispy bacon at the bottom . I don t remember all the flavors, but we all loved it. The crispy bacon has a little smoke flavor which I loved, but my wife a little less. A very tasteful cherry tomato is also at the bottom. Comes with a Sauvignon Blanc if I remember correctly. Good match. Third is a grilled salmon with ground pistachios, a great yellow sauce on the side, and a few raw veggie slices on the side (carrots, cucumbers) on a bed of avocado sauce (not guacamole) and a few beet mayonnaise on the side. Wonderful balance and taste except for the avocado sauce which felt too neutral compared to the rest. Comes with a surprising rose from Napa, a white zinfandel, pretty sweet. Worked well with us. 4th is a passion fruit sorbet to wash your mouth before the meat. Just perfect. I love sorbet, and both the texture and the taste were excellent. 5th is the grilled meat (you can sense it s char broiled) over a bed of risotto al pesto, and mushrooms in a savory sauce on the side. Everything is great, nevertheless, I think less rice would be fine, and we all found that the rice could have less fat (either less oil or cheese). Not a problem with taste, but it felt like too much. Comes with a red Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa again, the strongest of the whole menu, but matches pretty well the meat. 6th is a plate of cheese, with fruits, walnuts, and a surprise! Cheeses are brie and feta. The brie was as perfect as it can be (not my favorite french cheese, but it was perfectly ripe). The feta, I did not understand. It is far too dry and salty compared to the rest of the plate. I found it broke the balance. I think that a spanish manchego or iberico (with sheep milk) would have done a better job there, especially with the roasted apples (compote). The feta felt weird... The surprise was a Roquefort ice cream. Roquefort is a french blue cheese (goat milk), that I am not a fan of. My wife and son love it. We were ALL amazed by that very original proposition. Sweet taste, very creamy, with the Roquefort flavor in the background. Such a great idea... Comes with a Spanish red wine powerful but very balanced. The last is the Gran finale, which is a lemon tart covered with fruits. Warning: this is a typical french pastry and we are VERY demanding on this, as my son studies to become a pastry chef and we love pastries. The lemon curd felt too liquid and a bit bitter (too zesty?). For our taste, the crust could include a little more butter, as the texture was a little sandy. Overall, it remains an very good dessert, don t get me wrong.... It comes with a sweet white Mexican wine which is a blend of 4 different whites. Pretty good, I think it could go pretty well with a foie gras. Digressing here... Again, overall, great experience! No...
Read moreAvoid this restaurant at all cost unless you like rude attitude from the staff and let you wait 90+ minutes for no reason. Tonight at 6:55 pm me and my family arrived at the restaurant to be notified the waiting time is 35 minutes despite empty tables at the establishment. So we put our name and number down and waited, however nobody called us so we went to another restaurant and finished our meal. We went back the restaurant at 8:30 pm, and the receptionist there acted like she doesn’t know me and didn’t even have our name on the waiting list. When we asked for an explanation from the old white dude, maybe the manager said he had now a table by the window. I told him we don’t want a table we just want an explanation. And he was very rude and said “please leave I don’t serve you’ LOL, this is a restaurant that serves customers and has the audacity to ask the customer to leave when we’re only asked to provide a simple explanation. So good luck to everyone that’s is planning to eat there cuz you might get treated the same. I don’t want to say yall racist or something, but your behavior speaks for itself. There are plenty of restaurants in Guanajuato so don’t hang on a single tree if you know what I mean. Oh and have some face to reply me here
LOL you have the audacity to say violence where nothing violent happened, it is your staff being racist and only allowing certain race to be waiting and left plenty of tables available for other customer. So discrimination is ok for you?
Check your video to see if we came at 6:55 or before to reserve and the receptionist looked at my phone copied down my number. We even went back the second time and she told us to keep waiting. This is exactly what we did. We only went back the third time and complained. After 90 minutes and your waiters claimed we don’t have a reservation, but then said table by the window was waiting for us. Why your waiter agreed to give us table right away because we are complaining IF WE DIDN’T MAKE RESERVATION 90 mins ago? Please stop lying saying we didn’t line up lol, and please stop spreading misinformation about your customer service because I’m not the first person to...
Read moreThree of us dined at this restaurant and had a mixed experience. First the good. The wait service was excellent, and the facilities were spotless including the restrooms which were a trip in themselves. One of the dishes we shared was a ribeye steak and was fantastic, it would be ordered again. The beet salad looked fantastic and ordered as a main course but we all tried a bit of it. Unfortunately the person who ate the most had GI distress the next morning that may have resulted from the salad as the other two of us had no symptoms. We started with what we thought would be a light appetizer, the sushi, but it was a rice heavy, batter dipped and deep fried. We didn’t finish it. I ordered the pesto pasta and it was served warm as if it had been sitting for four or five minutes waiting for the steak. I left half of it on the plate. The other hiccup was that one of us ordered a glass of red wine, and it was a very light pour, as if it were a mistake. The waiter apologized, took the glass and came back with about a finger more wine in the glass. Minutes later the manager came over and said there were three sips taken from the glass before a problem was mentioned, and we said fine, charge us for it. Looking up I saw a video camera above our heads and that would have been the only way he could have been that specific. Yikes! He charged for another whole glass of wine (at 210 pesos each). Wow, pretty stingy. Although this is a very nice restaurant there are many more to choose from in this...
