Our stay was wonderful and we will go back. I was there with my wife and four daughters. Right from the get-go at check-in Elizabeth greeted us with a huge smile. Elizabeth's communication and hospitality skills were excellent. She made us feel like we had just come home from a long journey. Which wehad:)

Luis and help immediately took our truck load of Baggage to the room.it was like as lightning speed.

After getting settled we went out to discover the beautiful grounds of the Marcela Resort. The jungle vegetation and landscaping is breathtaking: coming from a green thumb if i say so myself. We went for a swim and decided to stay at the hotel to have dinner at thier restaurant. Wow food was delicious...everything! We stayed for 7 nights and patronized the restaurant several times. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner a few time and to never disappoint. Chef's Erick and company had it going on. And im a foodie from San Francisco Ca Bay Area.

The Bartenders at the pool Oscar, Jose, and Yahir who had the greates personality. He would call me Senor Raymon:)

There were several other personnel who were also AWESOME.

A special high five goes out to Betti. She was the Bomb and took well care of us all. I call her Wonder Woman. Thank you.

Accommodations were spectacular. we rented one of the penthouses. It was well decorated. Compliments to the Interior designer Marcela. We felt at home it was super cozy beds were dreamy. It was a three bedroom three bathrooms with windows all around with incredible views of Banderas Bay. Priceless.

Location location location with a few stairs. My family and I travel to PV annually and this was the 1st time we did not rent a vehicle.

I loved waking up to the gorgeous mornings having cup of jave on the terrace the go out to do my morniing walk into downtown La Área Romántica to the end of the Malecón n back

Then getting ready and taking the family for our daily adventure. The hidden Beaches or hanging out at the beach club of La Palapa or El Dorado being pampered. The walk home was a bit more challenging after doing nothing but RnR. However, the consolation was one, the Corona Micheladas/Michechevas store just before the stairs to Marcela Resort. Talk about Micheladas out of this world!!! Then second, diving into the pool at the Resort...bliss. keep in mind i was in PV mid July. Just loved it.

Places I recommend eat and to enjoy the scene:

Café Angeles Tacos revolution for the vegetarian La Palapa El Dorado River Café Emmpanadas Connie Cafe de Olla Panchos tacos Other taco stands by the Farmacia Guadalajara And of course the resturant at...

STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY!!!

Let me start by saying my fiancé and I are in the hospitality business and we were extremely impressed by attentive and welcoming staff, the grounds, the location, the hotel, the pool the food and the service. We needed a place to really relax and unplug from the stress of everyday life. Marcela was paradise for us! Betty greeted us upon arrival and checked us in with ease. Shortly after we got to our room someone brought us a complimentary appetizer and a fruity drink which was really refreshing after a long journey.

We stayed in the Hortencia Villa – 4A. It’s a two bedroom, two bath with amazing views of the bay from the balcony off of the bedroom, living room and dining room. The villa came fully equipped with everything you would need to prepare a gourmet meal however PV is a foodie paradise so we didn’t utilize the kitchen too much. They even provide complimentary coffee, creamer, sugar, ice and purified water in your kitchen. And towels….so many fresh towels! There was also a washer and dryer with laundry detergent and softener which came in handy. The bed was so comfortable with blackout curtains so you can sleep in past sunrise. We considered staying in the Romantic Zone but opted for Marcela because we were concerned about the noise if we stayed right in town. It is nice a quiet at night being located right above the busy city.

The landscaping and vegetation are lush. The pool area has really comfortable loungers, towels, and bar service. There’s always an area around the patio will full sun if you want to go home with a nice tan.

The property is pristine! The location is perfect as Marcela is in the Amapas which is right above the Romantic Zone. We walked down to Los Muertos beach each day. It’s an uphill trek back so sometimes we would hail a taxi for 80 pesos (which converts to about $4 US).

The staff here is amazing! Everyone greets you with a smile. The manager, Ernesto was so knowledgeable and kind. He took us on a tour of the property and showed us the man made Cave Suite. The cave is built into the side of a hilltop with amazing views of the bay of Banderas and the city. It is so spacious and even has a private outdoor hot tub. It would perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.

We downloaded the Whatsapp as this is their mode of communication and they would answer us immediately.

We are already planning our next visit to PV and will definitely be staying at Marcela. Our new home...

We absolutely loved the Marcela Resort. This was probably the nicest hotel "room" I have ever stayed in. It was a 2-bedroom / 2-bath unit, and HUGE - at least by American standards. From the wrap-around deck, it had an amazing view of the pool, down the mountain toward the Zona Romantica, and out to the ocean. It had a full kitchen, completely separate jacuzzi, and in-unit laundry. The price was still very reasonable for what we got (we booked through Vrbo).

The whole property was well-kept and nicely decorated. It's also very picturesque - instead of typical cookie-cutter hotel, the building itself is really interesting, and the gardens all over the grounds are full of pathways with landscaping and beautiful nighttime lighting. And the pool is crazy; it's 5(!) levels, going down the slope of the mountain. We spent a lot of time hanging out at the pool in the sun. All of the front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and spoke English well. They even kindly walked us through the "cave room" upon our request, since it was vacant that night - definitely the most cool and unique hotel room I've ever seen in person!

The only downside we experienced was that the room did not have good soundproofing, so we could hear people in the hallway and in the adjacent unit if they were talking or making noise. We were on the main "lobby" floor, so it's probably much less of an issue on the upper floors. Fortunately, it was pretty quiet at night.

The location is a bit of a way up the mountain from the Zona Romantica - about a 10-min walk. This could be a disadvantage to some, but we appreciated the fact that it was completely free of the noise from the Zona Romantica nightlife. And Ubers are very cheap in Puerto Vallarta, so getting a quick ride back up to the resort only cost a couple of US$.

Hope we can come...

Originally we were supposed to stay at Playa Bonita right on the beach in the Romantic zone, but I got a call on the way to PV and they told me that our air conditioning in our room wasn’t working. So they wanted to upgrade us to a different resort that was about a 10 minute walk from our original location. At first I was concerned because I knew that it was on a hill and my mom has mobility issues, but we could uber to and from wherever we needed to go. They offered us two different villas, either a 2 bed penthouse on the 6th floor or a 3 bed HUGE unit on the 2nd floor. We wanted to go with the 6th floor penthouse, but chose the 2nd floor unit due to my mom’s condition. The unit we chose was amazing!! It still had a nice view, but the outdoor space was the frosting on the cake, it was enormous! I believe it’s the only unit that has an outdoor area like that. It had its own plunge pool, palapa, bar, and I think even a pizza oven? The unit itself was much more than we needed for 3 people, but now that I I’ve stayed there I definitely will come back with a bigger group and stay there again. That unit would be perfect for 3 couples. The pool area and bar are fantastic and even though we only ate breakfast at the restaurant, it was some of the best French toast I’ve ever had. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only reason I gave the location 4 stars and not 5 is because one of the nights we came home from town our uber driver could not make it up the hill because of the rain and we had to walk, and with my mom’s bad knees it was a little tough. But if you don’t have a mobility issue there is another entry way on the bottom of the property that makes it an easy walk to town. All in all, this place is a gem and I definitely will be coming back!

I stayed here recently and would definitely stay there again. In reality I would give the resort 4.5 stars. I would take off only half a star because of issues with the room during thunderstorms. I stayed with some friends in one of the penthouse rooms. The room was spacious, beautiful, had a king bed in the room and came with a pull-out couch in the living room. More than enough to accommodate the three of us. The jacuzzi was big enough to fit four people and was plenty hot. The view of the entire city was absolutely amazing. Both bathrooms worked well and were luxurious. The A/C was very powerful, no one felt too hot in the summer weather while inside. Since we went during the rainy season, we had to contend with a couple of strong thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening. The reason I took off only half a star was because the penthouse room seems to have a leakage problem on the side of the kitchen that doesn't have an awning. Also there was a small leak in the indoor bathroom. Storms in PV don't seem to last that long, but it still made a big wet mess. If you go during times other than the rainy season then you will likely never notice this. The grounds are beautiful with pools, a sauna, a spa area, an easy walk to the nearby beach. About a scenic 20-minute walk to the more popular/partying part of the zona romantica area. Do be warned that you will have to do a significant amount of walking up hill as the resort is situated further up the mountain than the rest of the city, but this is partly what allows it to have such amazing views. All in all, it was a memorable trip at an absolutely amazing resort and I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit.

My recent stay at the Marcela @The Cave was nothing short of exceptional, thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a level of hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The reception staff were not only efficient but also incredibly friendly, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free check-in. Throughout my stay, the housekeeping team maintained the room in impeccable condition, and their attention to detail was truly commendable. The hotel's restaurant staff were a standout highlight of the trip. Their dedication to providing outstanding service, coupled with their extensive knowledge of the menu, made dining a delightful experience. They were always eager to accommodate special requests and offer recommendations that never disappointed. What truly set this hotel apart was the concierge team. Betty, Lori and especially Liz, had a wealth of local knowledge and willingness to assist with everything, from arranging transportation to suggesting the best local attractions, made our stay in the city truly unforgettable. In the end, it was the genuine warmth and professionalism of the hotel's staff that left the most lasting impression. I would highly recommend Marcela to anyone seeking a top-notch experience, and I look forward to returning soon to once again enjoy the incredible service that made my stay so wonderful.
