I deeply regret booking this hotel. Our first room (we were moved 3 times) did not have running water or a working television. There is a gap under the door that made it impossible to keep mosquitoes out. We were then moved to a different room after voicing our concerns, the staff were sympathetic but they moved us to a worse room. The shower was outdoors and the gap between the window and door to shower was such that the room was full of mosquitoes and now we are covered in bites. It also didn’t have a working tv and basic toiletries like body wash (which had been in the original room) were not provided. The outdoor shower changed in pressure and temperature on its own while we were showering which was very uncomfortable. So we were moved again only to find we were back in the original room with assurances everything would be ok. Returning after a long day of sightseeing and hoping to shower before dinner we discovered that once more there was no water. I do not understand why the 3 people at reception when we came back to the hotel didn’t warn us about this when we came back, and when we raised this concern again it seemed like they had hoped we wouldn’t notice. So they moved us to their sister hotel, where the room thankfully was better. We were offered a complimentary breakfast for our trouble, but had to decline as we were leaving at 6am the next day. We were offered no alternative compensation for all the trouble they caused us. While pretty, this hotel is definitely not worth the price and I would advise avoiding it at all costs. Staff tried their best to be helpful but it seems like they would benefit from some training. I have never been more disappointed in a hotel and wouldn’t wish a stay in this...

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. It felt pretty well located - about 12 mins from the Plaza Grande and an equally easy walk to the Passé de Montejo - so we only found ourselves getting an Uber twice in the trip.||We treated ourselves to the big room with the bath and it was incredibly beautiful. We have stayed in many fantastic hotels and this one was definitely one of the best rooms. The air-con was also efficient which was absolutely essential in Merida! The staff were always friendly and the room was super clean.||We chilled by the pool during the afternoon on my birthday which was a lovely escape from the heat. I ordered a cocktail which they gave me for free which was a nice treat.||A couple of little wobbles prevented this from being a 5*:|- the bath was amazing but really badly designed and flooded the bathroom (and couldn't get hot enough) which meant I could only face using it once|- they didn't replenish the bottle of water which I found surprising |- there is no fridge which meant we couldn't keep our own water chilled|- there is a lack of storage (particularly no drawers) and not enough hangers in the wardrobe|- there was building work in the lobby but no one notified us of it and I was woken up before 8am due to the noise of the construction - I know these things are necessary sometimes but they should have let us know when we checked in to manage our expectations.||Without a doubt I would recommend and gladly...

The hotel is quite nice and our room was lovely and very big; I think in a 4 star hotel you must have a small fridge in the room, but they don’t have. Unfortunately, we tried to have breakfast in the hotel but it was a complete nightmare. We were 6 guests waiting for the breakfast (so not many). After 10 minutes of waiting I had to stand up and go to the kitchen to ask for a menu. Nobody showed up for other 15 minutes, so I had to go to the kitchen again and ask for a waiter to make my order. It was very difficult to communicate because his English was really bad. Anyway, it was a complete disaster: we asked for 2 espresso: we got two small cups of dirty water we asked for two juices, one red and one green: we received two yellow juices we asked for one bowl of yogurt fruit and granola: we received only fruit; then we asked the receptionist to solve the situation and we received yogurt and granola (but no spoon) they didn’t have half of the menu

At least they didn’t charge the juices that were supposed to be extra (even if nobody told us). You should tell the guests what’s included and what is not

The location is quite close to the centre

So, it’s a nice place, but definitely not worth the money; they need to do a big step up with services...

This felt like coming home. Absolutely loved it. The rooms are clean and spacious. Beds are comfortable. The windows and doors look original to the property and are very rustic and gorgeous. Same for the beams, dresser and bed frames. I didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean. The breakfast options are a tad limited but delicious. If you order juice, it is made fresh on the spot (I saw the waiter making ours). The area is very walkable. If you’re Catholic; Santa Ana Parish nearby has English masses. There’s a couple of restaurants and shops nearby. Tons more if you walk a few more blocks towards the downtown or Paseo Montejo directions. Plus, the famous La Negrita Bar is only feet away. The cocktails are huge but it is VERY affordable there. We had an issue with not having water in our room the morning we were checking out and the young gentleman at the front desk promptly opened another room for us and we were able to shower. This was at 4:00 am since we had a very early flight. Overall it was a great stay. Mil gracias a todo el staff de Casa de las Palomas. Nos encantó.

Best price/quality hotel we had during our 3 and half weeks trip through Mexico, great architecture, big room, nice interior design, helpful staff and very quiet... perfect to relax after a busy day visiting.
