Great location and the rooms/hotel was really nice. However when I stayed here, the night after I checked in the woman at the front desk gave me a cold look as I proceeded to head upstairs to go to bed, and proceeded to stare at my mother and not acknowledge her when my mother waived and greeted her. Not even 5 minutes later another woman knocked on my door and then proceeded to walk into my room to "make sure" I wasn't sneaking in guests to my room. Needless to say I was furious and called the front to desk to speak to a manager, and I was told there was no one on premises. I FULLY understand that they have a policy regarding how many guests are allowed to stay in the room. What I do not understand is that this woman at the desk who had given me such an attitude (not the concierge), had been informed by myself that my nephew and brother would be coming up to my room to help with luggage and to wait for me as I got ready, earlier in the day. She said it wouldn't be a problem, just as long as they didn't spend the night, because there would be an additional charge if that was the case. I really did enjoy the hotel, and the staff on duty the next morning were super polite and helpful with everything, but unfortunately this one incident really just ruined the experience. I do understand the concierge was just doing her job, but the front desk agent who did check me in, and then essentially try to "catch" me lying about how many people I had in my room, was very unprofessional. Aside from this incident, the hotel is very well maintained and clean. The wifi worked great and it is in a prime location. Had I not had these issues with one particular employee, I would've definitely given this...
Read moreWe stayed here for 16 days , recently.|Typically I think most guests don’t stay that long but we chose it as a jumping off point to explore the Yucatán area. |5 star location for sure !|There are so many things to do within 3 blocks including museums , restaurants, shops, park areas with live entertainment, just fantastic!|One of the major complaints we had was the noise both in our room and while sitting on balcony or pool area . Keep in mind this is a large city so you can hear traffic , music from clubs and parks plus constant noise from huge AC unit from Holiday Inn across street , lower floors are less affected by this . The hotel has a charming aesthetic but is dated and needs some attention in certain areas . The elevator is ancient but reliable and charming. |The rooms are clean and housekeepers were very accommodating with any requests. Bottled water is left in your room daily and a small fridge is handy to keep things cool , although freezer didn’t work and ice is not available at hotel but attached restaurant will give you small amount for cost . No coffee in rooms but a decent cup is available at Marago ( across street) or Pops, around the corner . We had no problem with hot water or shower pressure, although bathroom fixtures and toilets need upgraded, not great at flushing with wobbly seats. We moved from our deluxe double room , because of leak from bathroom ceiling, to basic double and it is significantly smaller , with less storage for clothing . The pool is a lovely area to sit with chaise lounges but water is topped up daily and absolutely freezing .. in 16 days I saw 4 people use it. I would recommend for...
Read moreWe flew into Merida airport for the first time and liked the small size with fast customs upon entry. Stayed at Casa del B for two nights before heading out for our travels. Five states in five weeks for our driving adventure! Location is everything in Merida and we were right by several parks! Unfortunately there is a lot of road construction going on in town. |The hotel has two small elevators and only one goes up to floor 6. Just quirky. |There are many interesting antiques and artwork all around. The courtyard has a fountain, and a small dining area. |The room was basic but well worth the bargain price per night. There is a refrigerator, blow dryer and soft towels, although no hand towel in the room. The pillows were hard but the mattress in our room was VERY comfortable and that is most important for us. |The staff is friendly and helpful. It was nice to see that Diego still works there. We have stayed here before and had a newer room on a previous visit, but you get what you pay for! The windows do not open and there was a musty smell in the room, but the a c helped with the odor. Parking was available for a small fee. |Most impressive though, was all the custom iron work. The light fixtures, headboard, and mirror trim was all hand formed. Even the lampshade was hand painted. The doors and furniture had heavy wood trim, and the closet doors were fancy. The attached restaurant has recently been updated too. |It was a great value for our short stay. Btw it is across from the theatre which had a fire and is not open. The symphony was moved to a smaller theatre. I really hope they can restore it, it was...
