Los Trompos — Restaurant in Mérida

Los Trompos Merida Centro, Calle 60 and 59, second floor dinning room.

Food is not bad, not the greatest either. Atmosphere is just like any other place.

What's disgusting is the sorry attitude and lack of customer service of the waiter that "served us". He looked like forced to work, unpleasant and inattentive.

Lack of manners. He dragged several chairs across the floor from one table to another, just to disrupt the conversation of the other customers, as they seems to be enjoying themselves.

Then, as he was walking downstairs to pick up the food, he picked his nose for all to see, but in a gross manner. I felt so disrespected and wanted to leave, since I took that as a display of what could be done to someone's food, for whatever reason he was going through.

I do not reward this behavior, so no tip was left.

I usually don't do this, but I feel it has to be addressed for the wellbeing of the clients, since we are paying for a product/service, we do not ask for anything to be free, and should be served at business/professional level.

Because of that, I won't recommend this...

We arrived in Merida and took a walk down Paseo de Montejo as we heard that is the place to explore. Not true. It is just a busy street with very few food choices. We found this place by searching online. We decided to give it a try. We had excellent Pizza Al Pastor. So yummy! We also had some great Aqua de Jaimicas and guacamole. All the portions were very generous and the food was delicious! After dinner, we found the best part of Merida. Just outside of Los Trompos, we found the shops, street Vendors, and mercados. We had a great conversation with a little abuela selling roasted seeds and tamarind, etc on the street. We love México, the real México, so so much! Highly recommend that you leave the tourist areas and find the delicious food and great deals off the beaten path. Such a wonderful and lovely country with the most beautiful people!! Merida is a great city as well! We recommend Los Trompos and Merida...

Really good! We ate asada and al pastor tacos and they were both really really good! Also the guacamole and the totopos are good!! They have three kinds of salsa that go from mild to spicy and they all taste good. Be careful.with the habanero if you don't eat spicy, it looks a lot like salsa verde so ask before you try it. They have different menus for breakfast and for dinner, we try the dinner one. The restaurant was full but the service was really fast! They had live music and it was a bit loud but it was fun and the singers were good. We went there because our nephew who is six years old recommend it and the same day the front desk person at our hotel recommended it. They were...
