We recently visited Marago Coffee for dinner with our family—my wife, our three little girls, and myself. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The restaurant was nearly empty, which we thought would mean quick and attentive service, but things started to go downhill with our drinks. We ordered a lemonade that was not sweet at all and a strawberry, banana, and oatmeal milkshake that was completely tasteless. It barely tasted like bananas or strawberries—more like flavored water than a milkshake.
For our meals, we tried the Arrachera baguette, but the veal had a burnt taste, almost as if it had been cooked directly on charcoals, leaving a strange and unpleasant aftertaste. My wife ordered an English muffin sandwich, which our daughters liked, but it was pretty unremarkable overall. When we asked for sodas, we were surprised to hear they only had Coke—not any Coke products, just plain Coke.
My wife also ordered an iced caramel latte, which arrived looking very watered down, and it was clear she wasn’t thrilled with it. Given that Marago Coffee has such positive reviews for their coffee, we were surprised to find the flavor so lacking in both the food and drinks.
Overall, for a place with seemingly great reviews, our experience with both the food and drinks left much to be desired. We were hoping for a pleasant dinner, but sadly, it fell far short of our...

Read moreBy far my favorite cafe in Merida! This one is a true hidden gem on the corner and if you’re not looking you will miss it. The interior aesthetic is absolutely adorable. There is lots of greenery, stunning chandeliers, artwork that compliments the space and seating that is comfortable! I speak very little Spanish but I felt comfortable ordering food. They did have menus in English too! My husband and I stopped here 3 times during our stay in Merida and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious! If you are lucky enough to be there when Miguel is working, be sure to chat with him. He is bilingual and an absolute pleasure to talk to! I cannot recommend this place more! If you stop in be sure to tell Miguel, Leslie, the...
