Spacious modern comfortable room. Fantastic location right in the historic center. There's a battery of ventilators on the rooftop in front of the hotel facing calle 60. When those ventilators turn on intermittently (day and night) they make a very loud noise. In my first room the window wasn't sealed properly so all the noise came in and I asked to move the next day. In the second room the window was well shut so the noise was reduced but still present (and this window had water vapor condensation between its panes so you couldn't see anything outside). If you're not bothered by a bit of noise - this place is excellent. But if you're like me and have a problem falling asleep with ambient noise - this place is not for us, and the front desk seemed to not want to put me in a room facing the other side of the hotel. Maybe those are nicer and more expensive rooms, but hey - I'm Platinum so maybe a little upgrade? Wink wink.
Breakfast was problematic on Sunday. It is not self-service at this time; you order what you want from a person at the front of the buffet. That morning there was only one person serving, and a long line of guests. It took her 3-4 minutes to serve each person, so if you were number 11 in line you stood there for some 30 minutes in waiting. The selection and quality of food were good, and the breakfast...
Read moreI have never been disappointed to stay in a IHG property until I stayed in Holiday inn Express Merida centro. Although the hotel has a great location in the city center my family and I didn’t have a good experience. Starting with the parking place which is not near the hotel and as it does not belong to the hotel you need to pay extra 100 pesos per night. Next and most important the cleanliness which was poor. The room floor was extremely stained that we thought it was part of the tile floor design, the toilet was dusty and small debris was encounter all over. To add to the poor cleanliness, we experienced terrible staff treatment, we were 7 adults and 1 kid divided in 2 rooms and in each room we had 2 towels only. We tried to reach the staff through all the options by phone without success and when we required extra towels at the front desk we were treated as if we wanted to steal towels just because we asked for the missing 4 towels. Some last remarks, if you are a IHG member do not expect any benefits being acknowledged as this hotel. Examples of this is that I had to ask for the late check out option and I booked a 2 rooms with a view to the city and got a disappointing view to the indoor pool. In conclusion I would not...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer of IHG for years and I have stayed at IHG hotels in many cities and different countries. There is always an issue, and most of times, they are able to fix it. During this stay in Merida, the shower did not have water, there was no water. We call from desk, they send someone to "fix it", and we were told it was fix. It was later in the night, so we assume the issue was fixed. Next morning, did not work. We complaint again, and left the room for the day assuming they would fix it. Nothing happen! at night, we call and ask to get a room change. They said that it was not possible until someone from their staff verified we were telling the true. After 2 or 3 complaints about the same issue during our stay.
They end up changing us the room, but it was almost forced from our side. There was no intention for the people to help.
Parking was also an issue, the hotel does not have their own parking, they have an "arrangement" with a local parking spot, but people were very rude. Apparently the whatever arrangement they have is not a good one, and people in the parking lot is rude to the hotel customers.
I will NOT stay again...
