This is supposedly the best lounge in mexico airport as per reviews googling. Thats SAD for Mexicos rep!
I read a comment on bad service with the connection they were not white a bit down, dont worry its as bad if youre white as me so no need for the racist card ;-) even on a business ticket and master card experience card, service was horrible. Did get a foldable chair though and i think they are reserved for business class travelers as they have a limited amount and they write the lounge name on your boarding card when you check in (i noted this a lot later).
First things first, the location is at gate j19 not as described in mastercard app "entrance g, escalators down to h and so on".
Also dont bothet asking personell at the airport for directions unless they are in info disk, they will take a guess and tell a direction that is likely wrong (i tried, went back and forth 2 times until i opened Google maps and asked a info disk lady saying gate 19 and that was perfectly correct on 2nd info disk)
One free food order per visit. The mex food here is the worst i had (tasteless and dry and nothing like real mex food on i.e. tacotaco or tacostao, heres no cilantro, no lime, no choice of sauces, no chili, no fresh onion upon request...oddly they had fresh onion at the snack table so waiters are obviously not well educated on what is available). Worst food during my 4 weeks in mexico city, Aguascalientes, Torreon. Maybe the burger is better?
Want to order a drink. Be very clear and stop a waiter as they wont listen if you say im sorry can i order. Or better order yourself at the bar (they will sound annoyed but its the only way unless you like waiting forever). After ordering for exampe a simple GT or tequila expect to wait some 15-20 minutes (i actually tried ordering tequila twice but never recieved so....theres that) before it arrives. also you cant order 2 drinks at the same time for example tequila and a beer OR a coffe-liquor 43 and a baileys. Guess it's a strategy for profit to be slow as less drinks are served.
Final thoughts Comparing this with mid level lounges in Copenhagen airport (that i would rate 3-3.5 stars) this one barely passes 1 star but not enough for 2. The Copenhagen lounges are mostly self service but so much more fresh, better food and you can just go mix your own food / drink as you like it.
The foldable white seats are a nIce touch as you can recline them for a nap, but youd have to nap amidst all other people so In reality a no go.
If its the best in Mexico its really sad. Wrote this message while still waiting for my drink and still...
Read moreThe worst lounge I’ve been to, and unfortunately reflects very poorly on Mexico.
The place isn’t that big, and many airlines actually have a contract with this lounge. There was limited seating, but all seats were lazy boy type of single person sofas. Luckily, we went in early and noticed the place fill up very quickly. L We used the single shower room which was not only tiny but also filthy and lacking of basic equipment. There were non-disposable combs that had bundles of hairs, the basket to place personal items while showering had some gooey stuff in it, the towel provided had brown and black spots all over. There were no amenities other than the soap & shampoo, and no hair dryer even.
The food is also limited, both in terms of options and what you are allowed to order for free. There is a tiny salad bar and one part of the menu limits one person to one order. And whatever comes out isn’t any good either.
I actually couldn’t believe airlines who pride themselves on quality (and reflected in their pricing) such as Japan’s ANA ask their guests to use this lounge.
The only reason I put 2 stars instead of the more deserving 1 star, is because the servers were very nice (even though what you order comes out...
Read moreI recently visited the Mexico City Airport Grand Lounge Elite in Terminal 1 and while it certainly has a visually appealing design, it unfortunately falls short in terms of service and overall quality. Despite visiting during off-peak hours, I was surprised by the number of areas marked as “reserved,” which made the lounge feel more exclusive than welcoming. This setup gave me the impression of being a second-class VIP, rather than a valued guest.
The service experience was particularly disappointing. When I approached a server to request a simple cup of tea, I was refused unless I was seated, which seemed unnecessary and unaccommodating. This interaction, unfortunately, left a sour taste, and overall, the service staff seemed indifferent and unhelpful.
The only positive aspect of my visit was the warm reception I received from the front desk. The receptionist was genuinely kind and welcoming, making me feel like a valued customer—something the rest of the staff could learn from.
While the lounge looks impressive, it lacks the refinement and service quality one expects in such a space. It’s a shame that a lounge with such potential fails to deliver a complete,...
