Oh boy, I seldom leave reviews but have to for this one. The entire staff are in on scamming tourists. You ask for the cheque, and ask and ask...finally someone comes asking for cash (but still no cheque). After some more insistence we finally got a piece of paper with a suspiciously high number on it - we asked again for LA CUENTA. Every single other restaurant (Excluding food stands of course) in CDMX this has got us an itemized cheque..but not here! We finally 'negotiated' our bill down from 813 pesos to 780 pesos...but since I just looked at the staff blankly when they wanted cash they had to bring out the credit card machine - where it was rung up as 600 for food - which was more what I was expecting! - plus 200 for service (so yeah 33%!). I was done with arguing so just paid (though didn't leave anything extra for sure!!).
Be warned, if you look like a likely target you will get scammed at this place. It's a shame..almost two weeks in the city and treated well everywhere else.
All in all..the food..pretty average (food stands much better, but we really wanted to sit down for a meal). Wife cocktail was subpar - to be fair that is not their fault, you pick a random drink you take your choice). Service was abysmal..we had to go to the bar to order a beer as the waiter disappeared for about 30 minutes.
Will be calling the CC...
Read moreSo excited to check this place out--walked in to live salsa music playing & loved it!! Drinks fantastic--get the raspado-AMAZING! ....then it went way down hill from there. I didnt mention it took at least 12mins for anyone to acknowledge us after someone knocked the plant over on our table spilling dirt everywhere. Server came over & took our drink order. Delivered those then took food order....27mins later our food (cochinita & arrachera tacos) came out.....brown guac, dead (brown wilted) lettuce because it had been sitting in the window for probably 20mins. No one ever returned. We waited patiently as the manager sat at the bar on his phone & walked around to chat with staff & watched the other manager grab his things & go, as 6 different people walked by our table, it got so bad that i stacked all of the plates up & still no one acknowledged us. They looked straight at us, but didnt bother coming over. Our server had 2 other tables--a 2top & 3top both of whom arrived after us, got their food before us & the server went back multiple times to check on them. We finally gave up & waved the server down & asked for the check. Super embarrassing experience. Drinks + Music-wonderful. Skip the food & order...
Read moreI do not like to give bad reviews, but we had a pretty poor visit here. I ordered a spinach and mushroom omlette, which arrived without the spinach. I told our waiter, and he took the omlette back. It came back to the table a few minutes later, but instead of making a new omlette, they just added some spinach and sort of patched it back together - no apology from the waiter - and it came back just slightly warm, not hot. It would have cost the restaurant what, maybe 20 pesos of ingredients to make me a new omlette? My partner ordered a Mexican breakfast dish with meat, and the meat was tough so she sent it back and ordered something else. We had to ask for salt and napkins twice before the waiter finally brought them. The coffee cup was tiny; I would have liked a second cup, but didn't order one because I figured they would charge me for it and I already was paying too much. We never got a bill, the waiter just told us verbally how much we owed. I left a very small tip - commensurate with the service we'd received, and the waiter was visibly upset with me for not leaving a bigger tip. In 11 days in Mexico City and many restaurants, this was the worst. Sorry for the...
