I was served a pesto sauceâwhich the waitress initially said was just cilantro and olive oilâthat was spoiled.
When I brought it up, the manager added vinegar to the list of ingredients (in pesto? really?) and kindly said heâd check. He later returned saying it was normal and made fresh daily.
Thereâs a huge difference between something fresh with vinegar and something thatâs gone bad â I use vinegar every day, and this was unmistakably off. I got a stomach ache after trying the sauce.
Thankfully I only added it to the rice after finishing the toppings.
The waitressâs response was also disappointing. Rather than acknowledging the issue, I received a dismissive âitâs all goodâ with no genuine apology or feedback.
As for the falafel plate, in my opinion, it was underwhelming. Three falafel balls, two tablespoons of hummus, and a large portion of rice donât make for a balanced bowl â though I did appreciate the veggies. The dish felt like a cost-cutting version of what could easily be a great meal.
If they could also take responsibility when something goes wrong, it would go a long way toward improving the overall experience.
The location and vibe of this place are truly excellent â relaxed, inviting, and a space you'd want to return to. I hope the food and service can eventually match...

Chicken had no taste, mushrooms in the salad were also tasteles. The balsamic sauce has an overwhelmingly sour taste, in my opinion it should not be like this. Service is 0. When i arrived, i walked in and was waiting for the personnel to notice me in front of them. She was busy counting money; so i waited, was anyway not in the hurry...just noticed the lack of care. I asked if i can sit outside and if someone could take my order. I sat and someone came, took the order, shared the wifi password, food came...I finished almost the half of the bowl, wanted to try everything. Then i left it as i did not like the taste. Then i was waiting, waiting and waiting. Thought im going to order some desert to wash down the no taste salad, but noone came back to take my order. So after about 20 minutes i walked in and asked to pay. Was not expensive at all. I paid what i got. Would not recommend to anyone, i think there are so many other local restaurants with more tasteful food and more attentive service. Cozumel is famous of its hospitality...not the Coco...
