I love Nueva Vida de Ramiro, can't believe I haven't reviewed it before! This was I think my fifth stay here (I have stayed at many different places on the Tulum beach in the past 20 years), and I'm trying to pull plans together for another visit this fall. It is truly the last of the old-school Tulum properties. Super laid back, quiet, rustic, family-owned. It's mostly a leave-you-alone place in general, but Ricardo is always available and happy to help when needed. The widest stretch of beach around, which gives plenty of elbow room even if the hotel is completely full--and they'll set up your chairs/shade how you like it and keep it that way. Even if it's during a time of sargassum (generally spring/summer), the depth of the beach allows you to still sit up and enjoy the beach without being too close to anything smelly--or you can dip in the cute and refreshing little pool. When there is sargassum, the staff is up early raking it up to keep things as nice as possible for guests. When there isn't sargassum, it's also nice to have a wider part of beach so people aren't walking right by your feet all day.||Right now they don't have a beach bar or restaurant, so the beach is entirely for guests, which is becoming rare in Tulum and you'll notice the difference. This is still a place for enjoying the sound of the waves and the wind in the palm fronds, not thumping DJ music (or even "chill" DJ music, lol). Total relaxation. No high heels (seriously, you'll sprain an ankle)!||The breakfast across the street at Tamarindo is really great, though as someone wrote about earlier, there are a few recent quirks along the lines they mentioned. But the food is still great, and the space is a very cool place to start your day. ||Each room has a dedicated parking space, which is unusual in Tulum. They're tight spaces, to be sure, so don't plan on renting an Escalade, but for most normal small rentals, plenty of room. ||Nueva Vida also takes their environmental duties very seriously, also now sadly becoming unusual in Tulum. They'll be happy to tell you about what they do, but there are little signs around in the gardens along the paths to point some things out. ||Some folks in earlier reviews have mentioned loud music from a club across the road. It's my understanding that bar has been permanently closed, and the NVR owners are determined no one like that takes that space again. ||Trying to think of other things to say--comfortable beds, large rooms, a/c on the overnight in several rooms (check the website for which ones), big decks, hammocks, Adirondack chairs, easy walking distance to lots of other restaurants, and even the "party zone", thankfully far enough away not to be heard. Oh, and don't miss the "Tulumunchies" food truck/bar spot across the road and south/left a few hundred yards (across from La Zebra). Really great little bar, and the most reasonably-priced food along the beach road. I usually also make my way over to La Zebra once or twice during my trips, as I love that place but can't afford their rooms. ||I'll see if I can pull up some pics...
Read moreA hidden gem! Nueva Vida de Ramiro Tulum is a tranquil, serene, beachwaves-as-your-sleeping-sound stay. Check in was easy, the ambiance is calming, a very laid back atmosphere, and staff were very accommodating. They will communicate with you via WhatsApp, very convenient. Whoever was replying to us was very nice, booked us a taxi for the next morning for our tour, and just easy communication with our needs or request of no housekeeping needed. No restaurant at the hotel but there is free breakfast provided just across the street called Tamarindo. You can also order other food from there if your free breakfast isn't enough, but it was honestly just enough because you want to explore the other seafood that are offered around the area. We stayed at Sueno Caribeno with the AC, literally steps from the pool and the white sand beach. There is a hammock, lounge chair and table to relax with the view on our porch. The room was spacious, netted bed, large rain shower, clean bathroom, just a very rustic island feel to all of it, coconut leaves hut ceiling. There is a mini fridge, safe, closet cabinet, enough tables to put belongings in, jar of water (housekeeping changes it daily), bath towels, beach towels, amenities, and no TV (you wont need it). The views are amazing as is the beach. There are covered seating/laying sofas and tables provided for guests, a swing, along with open shower for after diving on the ocean water. You can order food or drinks from Tamarindo and they can deliver it to you at the beach. Before you go into your private cabana, there is even a little water pool to rinse your feet and sandals at the bottom of the stairs. Very thoughtful. Location wise it is perfect, walkable to everything, away from the noise and the busier part of this Zona hotelera area. However, you can hear boom music from the nearby club hotels but it isn't disturbing from where we were at and it dies down by 10pm. The restaurants nearby offer great seafood and drinks, shoutout to La Onda, where my boyfriend waited for me while I had clay massage and had 7 best mojitos ever! Overall a great stay and beyond beautiful, clean beach. Will...
Read moreThis is our favourite place in all the 30 yrs we have travelled together. It’s not an all inclusive. No loud pool games , excessive drinking and eating (which is totally fine if that’s what you like). This is a tranquil small place directly on the clean quiet beach but close to all the attractions in the hotel zone. Our room was directly on the beach with the most beautiful sunrise seen right from our bed or while swinging in the hammock on our porch. Accommodations are basic, clean and relaxing. Staff are friendly and available to help if you need but otherwise it’s a calm chill atmosphere. The small pool is clean and refreshing right on the beach to take a dip and stays open until 10pm for a night swim. Hammocks hang from your front porch and throughout the grounds . This small dreamy place has breakfast included at Tamarindos restaurant located across the street. For small upcharge you can pick from many delicious fresh meal options. The waiters Estoban and Gabriel are terrific and will come serve you during the day on the beach from their lunch and drink menu . This is a rustic place that for us is just what we were looking for to relax and be alone. If you like fancy 5 star and pampering , this probably isn’t a place to go. The front lobby and desk is so quaint and check in -check out is simple. Staff will help arrange transportation to and from airport if you request . We were at the new Tulum airport which is less than an hour drive . There are many restaurants along the street but our favourite place to eat in the evening was at the food truck/bar which had many different options at more reasonable prices and has live music some nights . We hope to return to this little piece of...
