We had a wonderful stay at Monte Bay retreat. It really is a retreat. You have everything you need at a charming place. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The chef makes some amazing food. We had a few dinners out (thank you Sasha for the recommendation, reservations, and treats at the restaurants), but could have enjoyed all my meals here as there are many items on the menu I wanted to try. Breakfast is so good. Definitely try the banana bread! The bar and restaurant are only for the guests so it’s always a relaxing experience. The room is good sized. I loved the fun high tech touches - the rainbow lights in the shower and the toilet with many options. The bed was comfortable and the view from bed is hard to beat. The shower had one of the few rain shower heads that has great water pressure (and two other options). I appreciate the full size Rituals toiletries - good for the environment and easier for the consumer. 👍 The wood fired sauna is cute and felt great even after a hot day exploring the area. The pool is the perfect temp to cool off on a warm day - and the view of the bay! Monte Bay retreat is up above the main bayside street, but it’s about a 3 min walk (down a little hill and some steps) to get to many restaurants, shops, and boats to the island. You can also rent paddle boards & kayaks to explore the bay. Wi-Fi was good and worked throughout the property. They have vegetable gardens on property and future guests should get some tasty fresh produce. The villa itself is beautiful and well decorated. We were able to park our car at the top entrance (a few sets of stairs to get to the main building). I would definitely return to the Monte Bay Retreat for another relaxing stay in this beautiful area.

Stay here, you will not regret it! We stayed 5 nights and had the most incredible honeymoon. Private dining, poolside drinks, the most incredible breakfast of any hotel I've ever stayed at. The service was truly exceptional and what made the stay so worthwhile, a real credit to Sasha and the crew. Every single person was available when we had questions about sightseeing or wanted to order a drink, but unobstrusive when we wanted a romantic quiet evening. The staff pointed us to little known swimming spots, the best views of Boka bay and exceptional restaurants. It's an intimate boutique experience that really makes you feel like you own the place. You can select your own music for dinner and dine privately in a number of locations around the hotel, all while your every whim is catered to with a smile. It was the small touches that made the difference. I hate bananas and cleaned my plate but left the bananas untouched at breakfast, and on subsequent days, not a banana in sight. I ordered coffee and an extra espresso, then added it to my coffee, next day my coffee was served with a double espresso automatically. We are vegetarian/vegan, and the chef cooked us beautiful meals, and catered to us at breakfast. Don't miss dining here for dinner. Presentation was what you'd expect from a 5* venue, and everything was delicious. The cocktails were perfectly balanced. The view is so good that lots of couples getting married trekked to the carpark of the hotel to take photos - yet our shots from the pool were even better. I only wish the windows were larger in the rooms so we could enjoy the view from bed, but in a heritage building that's asking for too much.

The hotel is located in the most beautiful location of Perast. Easy to reach, private parking is available. You are greeted with an incredible view as you enter the hotel. There is a pool directly accompanying this view. There is a terrace next to the pool where you can relax. Each of the rooms is named differently, the view from each of them is magnificent. The interior of the rooms is well equipped. It is also quite spacious in terms of use. There is a restaurant they have contracted at Perast Beach for breakfast. You can have breakfast on the beach next to the sea. The hotel staff are very interested. They fulfill any request of yours instantly. We're thinking about coming back. It was a very nice stay, we recommend it.

Monte Bay Retreat was where my husband and I kicked off our honeymoon and we couldn't have made a better choice. Sasha was super helpful and communicative through the whole process and handled our airport transfer -- he even kept eyes on our flight status to make sure everything was seamless.||||When we arrived he greeted us warmly and gave us a rundown of the hotel and showed us to our room. He had a welcome drink with us which was so wonderful! He tells great jokes and is really fun to be around.||||The pool is fantastic with the most stunning views. The hotel caters to couples so it is quiet and private. Perast is a pretty sleepy town that you can walk end to end within 30 minutes, so we spent most of our time by the pool, and wouldn't have had it any other way.||||We stayed in the St. George room, which was comfortable and well designed. There was more than enough space for all of our stuff, and more gorgeous views! The jacuzzi tub in the room is a highlight, though sadly my own ineptitude made me not know how to work it until the last night, but Sasha helped and didn't make fun of me too much, haha.||||The restaurant food is excellent and the drinks are superb. I could not stop ordering Mojitos, definitely don't miss out there, and make sure to order the natural/organic wine. The service is so amazing I saw Sasha personally make a custom frozen cocktail for a couple who ordered off-menu. This staff does not rest! they are always making sure you're comfortable and happy. ||||We had a private boat ride arranged for us by Sasha which took us all around the bay, it was a real highlight and we barely had to lift a finger, everything was taken care of for us. One of the staff, Meli, provided lots of insider tips and recommendations that we ended up following and she was right! (Ask about the alternate walking path in Kotor if you go there). She had a lot of great stories and you can tell her and Sasha both really enjoy people. To provide the level of service they do, you'd have to. ||||Talking about going way above and beyond, I unfortunately came down with VERY bad food poisoning (NOT from them, from another place) the morning we were supposed to check out. The hotel was fully booked and we had to find somewhere else to stay. Sasha gave us another hotel recommendation, Meli handled having our rental car delivered to us so my husband didn't have to go 30min away to pick it up in Kotor so he could focus on taking care of me and the other arrangements of packing up and booking this other room. ||||Meli took care of me like a mother while I was sick, and it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about her kindness. She was literally applying cold compresses to my head and the back of my neck while I lied in bed, no one asked her to! She just cared that much and wanted to help. The other woman on staff ( I forget her name sadly but she was also so nice and helpful!) AND Meli each brought me mint tea and a probiotic pill to help settle my stomach, so I had 2 mint teas in the room. Meli also brought me ice chips and kept checking in on me and told me not to rush and don't worry, she'd clean our room last so I could lie there until the last possible moment. I just cannot get over this, it was one of the kindest things I've ever experienced, and from relative strangers at that. They REALLY care about you like you're family. ||||If it wasn't such a far trip for us we'd come back in a heartbeat (and not get food poisoning ... Stick to the hotel restaurant or Comte and Boca Libre for dining), but we will always remember this hotel and its extraordinary staff...

My husband and I have recently returned from a 4 night stay at this beautiful retreat and already cannot stop talking about returning. ||||The owner, Saša, is such a wonderful host and instantly makes you feel at home; we were showed around the property on arrival,.introduced to the staff and were even offered a welcome drink to share with him at the bar. ||||I appreciate all of the details that have gone in to renovating the property - from the stunning infinity pool, the detail in the bathrooms (I've never looked forward to a shower so much!) and the way the traditional and historic aspects of the building have been celebrated, for example the stone walls. ||||The staff could not do enough for you and are so warm and friendly - its genuine and not at all 'put on'. The level of service is second to none and we enjoyed getting to know them throughout our stay. We also got on very well with another couple staying at the property - this is the great thing about staying at such a small, personal retreat such as this. ||||We already had an itinerary planned but needn't have gone to such detail as Saša had so many great suggestions and offered to help us sort certain things out if we needed it. We weren't able to fit in a winery trip but next time we will definitely be sorting this with him. He also recommend local restaurants and places of interest.||||The chef, Nikolai, prepared a seafood platter for us on the first night and it was sensational! Seared tuna was divine, as was the squid and sea bream... everything on the plate. Oh, and I'd also like to mention that Christian makes a cracking gin & tonic! We sank a fair few of these on our trip. He always has a smile on his face, great to chat to and really made our day. ||||We actually had to reschedule our trip from May to July - due to bad weather in the area and also due to a knee injury of mine (I'd read about the steps in Perast prior to arrival - yes there are quite a few!) When we rescheduled the room we originally booked was not available, so we ended up having the smallest room as it was the only one available. I was worried we could be short on space but I've got to say it was such a lovely room and I would not hesitate to book this one again. Very cosy and inviting. The shutters opened out onto a view of the town below, the bay and the church. Bathroom was brilliant - the shower had many different settings and it was like a mini spa almost! Rainfall showers every day were a treat. Double sinks. Wardrobe space was great too as this is something usually lacking in many hotels and we don't pack light. Bed was very comfortable, multiple pillows and robes and slippers provided.||||What Sasha has created here is something truly special - and is unlike anywhere we have stayed previously. It is very much a retreat as the name would suggest and not just a hotel. We've never had an experience like this, and we've stayed at many boutique hotels on our travels. This just tops the mark in every way. It's much more of a personal touch. We cannot wait to return to Monte Bay and Montenegro in general (hopefully for longer next time) and have recommended this beautiful place to our family and friends.||||Oh, and believe the hype about the...
