This was my first stop and first meal in Montenegro after having just passed the border. The location is idealic, and is one of the first restaurants you will encounter as you walk down the Perast promenade. NOTE: The prices get higher as you keep walking, so keep that in mind.
The elderly waiter was very charming, and reminded me of Carl Fredricksen from Up. His english was adequate, and you will get what you need from him. He is humble, maybe a little too apologetic... but that's part of his charm!
WHAT WAS GREAT The view! Take it all in. The Octopus was cooked very well... tender in the center, and crispy on the outside. The old world charm of a Disney character :)
WHAT I WOULD IMPROVE (to the amazing young lady I spoke to) Think about how or why you'd want to mark the tables closest to the water as RESERVED. We tried to get one, but couldn't. Not sure how these were allocated, as others were able to get them. No biggie, you don't need a seat right by the water to enjoy the amazing views! Do make sure that the food comes out as soon as it's ready, so it's still hot. This one is important for many people, and can tip the scale either way. Your entrees are very light on flavour, which isn't a bad thing per se. That being said, you can afford to cook your meals with a little more salt, herbs or spices to cater to the eclectic visitors (don't worry, we can handle the flavour, so don' t be shy!). I added some salt myself, and it really brought out the flavour of the Octopus I had. But it's always better when the meal is prepared that way to begin with (that's the chef in me talking). A wedge of lemon on the side to squeeze over the Octopus would have gone a long way, so think about including one with ALL your seafood dishes (not a slice, but a nice hefty wedge).
This is a family-run restaurant--and they are trying their hardest--as I am sure many are in Perast. What I appreciated the most about it was the young lady who came out to speak with me personally, eliciting my feedback. Her english was impeccable, and she listened diligently as I unloaded my suggestions. This is what really altered my perception and my mood surrounding the entire experience. It was a humbling experience... for both of us really.
This is a new frontier for many restaruant owners in Perast. So keep an open mind, and please, always be kind. Many thanks to the young lady for taking the time to pick my brain on how to improve the exprience they were trying to create for their patrons. To anyone visiting Perast, give them a chance; you might be pleasantly surprised. And enjoy this beautiful little town; it...

Read moreThis is a terrible establishment. Our friends chose this restaurant and waited for us there. When we arrived, I immediately went to the toilet while our friends were sitting in the hall. The waiter ran after me to say that the toilet was for guests only. I said that we are with friends who have now ordered from you. The waiter said that since I didn't order I couldn't go to the toilet and didn't let me in. I had to order coffee to go to the toilet. Although our friends who were waiting for us at that moment were guests of this institution. After that we left. The friends were upset because they didn't like the food. And I was upset with the attitude towards the guests. If 2.5 euros for a burnt coffee is more important to you than the good attitude of the guests, then it's a pity😢 By the way, the toilet did not close, it was dirty and there was no soap or paper. After that, we sat in another more expensive restaurant, further down the street, where it was much nicer. If you want to relax I don't...
