I recently stayed at Hotel Aferni for two nights on official business, and my overall experience was mixed. The hotel's ambiance felt outdated, which detracted from the stay's comfort. On the positive side, the room was pleasant, featuring a balcony that added a nice touch. However, the room lacked several basic amenities: there were no washroom slippers, kettle or coffee maker, glasses, or iron. The cleaning service was satisfactory, but nothing exceptional. The buffet breakfast was average. Given the higher room charges compared to other hotels in the area, I expected more comprehensive services and better facilities. Overall, I would rate my stay as average, with room for improvement in updating the facilities and providing essential amenities.

The hotel was quiet and staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was traditional Moroccan(bread, pastries, jam, marmalade, fresh orange, coffee), i didn't use room service as there is several places to eat right outside the front door. The beach is 5 minutes walk(tops) and is sandy, plenty of food places and souvenir shops with the mariner at one end .There are 2 souks(markets) a small one(15 mins walk) which was mainly closed(due to it being Ramadan). The other is massive(souk el had and 30 mins walk)this is worth a visit where a bargain can be had if you are good at bartering. The area is mainly French. The hotel was worth the money.

I don’t know where people stayed but the hotel is disgusting. We found a massive cockroach(see picture) in the room. The guy at the desk seemed uninterested and didn’t even apologize. Another person from our group had mold all over the ceiling, they also didn’t apologize. After another person came to remove the cockroach he just killed it and didn’t seem interested in helping us at all. That’s not all we tried booking a tour at the reception and the guy just telephoned someone else and gave the phone to us without any information.

Good location, bed was comfortable, towels changed daily, good coffee, staff friendly and polite, we could print the tickets in reception. Room wasn't very clean, it was dusty especially wardrobe hinges and stools, bathroom needs a spring clean, shower curtain was mouldy. But the biggest issue was the noise. On Friday night there was a group of people playing cards by the pool in the middle of the night, we called reception but there was no action taken. Eventually my husband went to the balcony and asked them to be quiet, they kindly left, it was about 2am. On Saturday night there was an event in the restaurant downstairs, people were clapping and cheering until 2am, it was impossible to sleep with that noise. We were thinking to move to another hotel but I wasn't sure if we can get the refund. I have asked Zen Hotels but didn't get an answer. I have received email about 2 days later that they contacted the hotel and we didn't check out so there will be no refund. Not very helpful. I wanted to know what are the rules if we want to check out early but no one contacted us. It would be good if they have few irons for guests. We got one when we asked on our arrival but it was taken from the room after couple of days. Breakfast wasn't great, every day the same food, bread wasn't fresh, there was small ants on the tray with pastry. We had to pay to some guy for the off street parking which supposed to be free. We had a heavy suitcase and there was no ramp on outside stairs so we had to carry it...

We really enjoyed this hotel. Staff are really friendly. The location is good, at short walk from the beach but that reflects in the price. It also means the restaurants and cafes which are close by, which are many, are a lot less expensive than you find along the promenade and the harbour. The rooms are clean and have everything you expect. They seem to be cleaned every day. WiFi, good sized shower (with hot water!) and comfy beds. Their is a mosque near by. It seems the athan (Muslim call to prayer) is not done over the loudspeakers in the morning, I think this is due to being a tourist area. If you are Muslim ask reception for prayer times as we only sometimes faintly heard the athan and didn’t hear it at all in the morning. Swimming pool was fine. Breakfast was good, it’s help your self with Nespresso brand coffee machine making cappuccino, espresso etc. Moroccan pancake (mesimmem) fresh bread, fresh pastries etc. Lots of banks, cafes, shops and restaurants near by. I wasn’t expecting too much because of the views but I have no complaints and would definitely stay again. I have been to Morrocco over 15 times before and this hotel is going to be remembered for friendly staff and great location. I just added the photos as their are too many fake...
