The place looks wonderful very friendly staff, Ahmed and Bilal very helpful throughout the trip especially Bilal. Few areas where I and the group felt the place lacked was no fridge in the room should we want cold water we have to ask reception if they have any left upstairs. at time we didn’t know the water wasn’t part of the accommodation and got charged 20 dirham at the end per bottle, had there been a fridge we would have bought our own 6 dirham for the large bottle or Cold drinks. Felt they should have been clear about the charge. Also no kettle, we wanted a brew in evening or sometimes late and would have to ask Bilal to get us the water from kitchen which he would usually bring but after an hour and was frustrating kettle fridge and Tv should be a minimum in hotel.. Breakfast again was very standard don’t know why the reviews on Booking.com suggest otherwise, breakfast was repetitive 1 dry semolina bread, baguette (nice), quarter egg, pancake n slice of cake with fresh orange juice and although I accept it may seem like a lot honestly if u like every item then you probably would get filled up but if u don’t eat egg then ur going hungry especially when you only booked hotel for the breakfast. And finally honestly we weren’t allowed to talk after 9-10pm Bilal would come to room to shhh us saying there’s other people in hotel. We were recording to show management how bad it became that even general conversation became difficult to have in a normal tone. Will provide evidence if required we were talking for few mins and Bilal knocked on door to hush us I said to Bilal that weren’t even speaking loud and he indicated we just whisper. I felt this was unfair as we came on holiday so atleast we could talk and have a laugh, we then decided we would go out after 9pm at but then when you came back doors would be locked to enter the Dar and would have to contact...
Read moreAn absolutely beautiful place to stay in Fes. Everything about Dar Golden Ziat is 10 stars. We were warmly welcomed by Hassan, shown to our beautiful, clean and comfortable room with clean private bathroom. We stayed in the Rabat room. All their rooms are named after cities in Morocco. We were picked up at the train station from a pre arranged taxi and dropped off right at Bab Ziat entrance. The Dar is conveniently located just a few steps from the entrance. The entire staff are family. The rooftop terrace has great views, the breakfast is tasty, generous and filling. They arranged a fabulous and fun day trip to the Middle Atlas Mountains, the largest cedar forest in the world where we saw several Macaque Monkeys! We visited a cave house, had lunch in Azrou, bought fresh apples from a roadside stand, visited a Berber house, and enjoyed free time to wander around the alpine architecture town of Ifrane. The whole day was terrific. They also set up a private guided tour of the Medina with the best tour guide, Azedin! Ask for him and you will be treated to a complete tour of the Medina. He was so knowledgeable and we enjoyed every minute. |Everything was excellent! The location is great. It’s quiet at night. We even extended a day because we didn’t want to leave so soon. This family will attend to your every need. Thank you so much Hassan, Bilal and Ahmed and to the ladies making breakfast and keeping our room tidy and clean. Don’t hesitate to book Dar Golden Ziat, you will love your...
Read moreThis place is tremendous! From the minute we arrived, the staff, Ahmed, Hassan and Bilal were super kind, smiling and helpful. The location is fantastic. It’s about 100 feet up from the Bab Ziat entry gate. The room was spotless. The AC and Wifi worked perfectly. Our room also had two windows that allowed fresh air from outside. Even though the dar is in the Medina, the nights were quiet and peaceful. We have stayed in several locations in Morocco and this was our favorite. Breakfast on the beautiful terrace was plentiful and fresh. We are vegetarians and they made sure we had plenty to eat every morning. They also arranged a day tour into the Middle Atlas mountains for us and that was perfect! In addition to all this fun, they arranged a private walking tour of the Medina for us and that was the highlight of our 5 days in Fes. The staff is so genuine and friendly, they made us feel like family. Big thanks to the entire staff. ...
